Is that what the V6 is rated at with the new ratings? 17/24? I was wondering what it was now. I know the 2007 was 20 city and maybe 27 highway. I never had a problem matching the old numbers but I guess if you have passengers, traffic, hills etc.....

I just drove 278 miles in 95 degree heat to the Outer Banks of NC with the air on and loaded up with vacation stuff and 3 people and got just under 25 mpg. Most if not all was done at 60-65 mph . I have done similar trips alone and got close to 27 -28 mpg . What do you guys think??? When I drop below 64 , the mileage gets better , not a great differance .

I just took a 160 mile round trip, averaged 26.9 mpg going 70-80 most of the time. 4WD XLS V6.

I can usually break 27 MPG on the freeway. I just drove to South Dakota from Wisconsin and back with the family. We drove over 2000 miles, loaded up and through the mountains. (The car did excellent.). We averaged about 25 MPG. The speed limits are 75 out there, too, and I tried to keep it under 80.

2007 XLS 4WD was rated 19/26. I think those are the numbers you can expect in real life. Of course if you are spirited driver, drive every day in heavy traffic, with frequent stops or only very short trips you my not get even that. On my only long trip so far (750 miles) I just got 23 MPG, fully loaded and with strong cross wind. What I noticed, RPM around 2000 makes trip computer 26 MPG happy, and what kills it, is the cruise control with sudden surges in power after your car slows down with moderate traffic.

I notice as we got into South Dakota and the speed limits increased, the MPG went down. Which is the case in any vehicle. I noticed the same thing with the cruise, especially in hilly areas. With the cruise off, I could pick up speed on the down slope and let it slow down a bit on the uphill, so the car wouldn't downshift.

The cruise would maintain the set speed, and when you went up the hill, it would downshift to keep it up to speed.

We were impressed with how the car performed. Plenty of room, power, comfy seats for a long drive. Sattelite radio was great, too.

My wife uses Excel spreadsheet to keep track of her mileage as she has her own company for income tax purposes. Her 2007 Outlander XLS 4WD after 30,000 km when converted has an average of 26.67 MPG ( Imperial ). She has on several occasions gotten 30 to 31 MPG on a tankfull during warmer weather. We live in Ontario and are going to Prince Edward Island for our son's wedding next week, I will post mileage for each tankfull afterwards.

Well, I got 20.1 mpg on the second tank, so that was better than 17.9, but on the third tank it's looking like I'll come in under 20 again. Combine that with the smallish fuel tank and I'm still filling up every week like I did with my gas guzzling Explorer. I drive with the mpg meter display on all the time now, which makes me paranoid. I don't know if it's the hills around my house or what, but I'm pretty disappointed. I was really hoping for 22-25 with mixed driving. I probably should have got the 4 cylinder SE. Still holding out hope it will improve.

Is really hot weather supposed to hurt mileage, too? It's been pretty hot in the afternoons here (95-100 degrees).

2008 SE AWD by adren

I bought a new Outlander SE at the end of May after doing alot of research here, there and everywhere. I just wanted to report my MPG's since there is little out there about the 4cy SE. I have been averaging 25 for almost every tank. Driving is 30/70 city/hwy.

I am completely happy with car. A little slow on takeoff but that has helped retrain my driving habits, which helps fuel economy. I love the extras that come with the SE. I can't believe there are not more on the roads, but that's alright, I like not having the same car as everyone else.

I just picked up my 2008 ES - I was told I can expect close to 30 on the highway and on my first tank it looks like I can exct closer to 20. This is making me unahppy to say the least...

Anyone out there with an ES that has any data they can share? Or any 2.4 Auto 4WD for that matter
