| Our '04 2wd Nav just clicked over 50K miles. As with our Excursion, the more miles, the better these things run. The Nav started out new averaging 12 MPG, slightly better on a long highway trip. It's now getting 14 mpg around town and 15.5 on an extended highway trip. Usually loaded down with 2 kids, dogs, luggage and 2 adults. Cruise set between 75-80 mph. Have been interested in the CX-9 and Acadia, but I'm not hearing any substaintially better mileage stories. By the way, the 4x4 Excursion (V-10, 3.73) get's 13.5 mpg on the same trips the Nav is getting 15.5 on. Not good, but considering the Excursion's capabilities, I'm not disappointed! Bottom line, heavy SUV, 300+ HP engine, brick-like aerodynamics = lousy mileage! | |

Never know when we're going to run over pea gravel on a cloverleaf . . . or water overspray from roadside irrigation . . . 10.5 mpg city - wife 14.0 mpg commuting - me 15.0 mpg highway - 85mph 16.0 mpg highway - 70mph 11.5 mpg driving to ski resort 17.5 mpg driving home from ski resort 5.0 mpg driving especially steep 9 mile section to ski resort |

i have a 2001 Lincoln navigator and i have love it ever since i have gotten it. i am very delighted to inform people all the time that i do have a fuel efficient suv. i really do just the other day i me and the family of five got in and worked our way to lake tahoe from a small place called santa cruz california witch is about 4-5 hours away and when i had it on drive and cruise control at exactly 71mph i looked at the message board on the head liner and it was saying 23.4mpg when we would start inclining the cruise control would work the way it should work and the mpg's came down to 19.8. the most i have ever gotten, and it is the 3rd time have done this same trip and getting really similar results. maybe off by .5 to 1 mpg' s. now i do work for ford and i always have all major services done get my oil changed every 3000k and the my navi has 54,000k. i have original wheels and always get the exact same tires from the factory and the same brand. i have also been upgrading to the new computer soft wear. you would be amazed how many different soft wear upgrades there is for these things. i only use 91octane i have tried to use 87 but my fuel eco was about 2-3 mile less per gallon. the navigator is a cruiser and theres no doubt about that when i drive in the city i drive normal not fast easy to start and as soon as im moving i just let it cruse. i get 15.6mpg. witch i would rather get this gas millage and have a reall nice looking luxury suv vs. having a really gay looking toyota prius. i love the navigator everything about it not just because i sell them all day long but theres something about them.
