He drives it hard (sheesh, I thought I had a lead foot) and commutes in suburban and some urban L.A. traffic. He knows to ask for transmission fluid and filter changes, and rotates them into his service schedule. I don't know if that helps, but it couldn't hurt. '99 FWD models had a valve body problem that was cured during the model year. Perhaps your '00 AWD, while not a particularly stout design, may be one of the more reliable models.
