Hey guys and gals,
Just reading through your post on your Chargers because I always wondered how they compared to my 06 Mustang GT. But what I wanted to see is if the Dodge motor needs to be retuned like the ford when adding aftermarket parts - intake, headers and such. On the 4.6L V8 I had to have the car tuned to correct the fuel/air ratio among other things. They also advance the timing if you run good 93 octane fuel (BP) for even more power. Just through bolt on's I was able to gain 82HP which I found incredible. CAI, long tube headers, x-pipe, cats, mufflers (Borla) and, 3:73 gear. This put me just under 13 seconds in the 1/4 mile and to 60 in 4.8 seconds. Not shabby at all, faster then the stock SRT-8. Also with only 4000 miles on the engine I am seeing 17mpg in the city and as much as 28 mpg on the highway at 65 mph. Anyway, just wondering about the Dodge hemi compared to the Ford V8 in these areas.

You never got your answer. The Hemi is no differant then any other when it comes to modifying. You make the same adjustments. When you put on headers you should adjust your fuel mixture or you run to lean and could burn up pistons and valves.I always advanced the timing a little its give you a little bit better response.I think you mileage is pretty good for what you did.
