| In response to the post asking if Sirius was available on the ES, since buying my ES 350 in August I'd wanted Sirius - not XM. My dealer (North Hills Lexus just outside of Pittsburgh) explained the problems with reception and the hold on the product. Last week (4/18/07) my dealer told me Sirius is now available and he has ordered it for me. It should be in shortly. Yeah! | |
| I had XM installed in my ES350 in March, and my trial is about to end. They attached the antenna to the inside of the rear window near the center stop light, because I did not want it on the trunk lid. I must turn up the volume alot compared to AM or FM, and I've seen other posts about this. However, reception cuts out more than I think is acceptable. It seemed to get worse when the leaves on the trees filled out, and any kind of valley is trouble. The sound quality is also not nearly as good as FM, CD, or even AM for most stations. I took the car from St. Louis to Nashville a couple of weeks ago and was dissapointed in reception. Does this sound familiar? My dealer said they checked with XM about the antenna working from the inside. | |

Replying to: tliebman (Jun 01, 2007 2:02 pm) As to antenna location, I'm on the trunk. With my Yukon's antenna on the roof, I have a pretty good idea of how the two locations compare for pick-up. Bottom line, I have no problems with pick-up on the ES350 and it might even be a touch better than the Yukon but neither is a problem. Thank goodness for small miracles (and no tranny flair at least for now) Got to go. I need to find out how to email Lexus with a huge complaint. |

| I see satelite antennas mounted on roofs of many cars that are nowhere in the price category of the 350. They are on Honda,Chevrolet,Camrys etc. Lexus really fumbled the ball on this one.I have yet to see a 350 with the rear antenna. My 2 previous cars were Acura TL's and the Bose radios were far superior than the radios on the 350. | |

A small 1" sq by 1/2" high black antenna like a small black cookie mounted on the center of the trunk line nearest the window. It is hardly noticible and I have had zero reception problems but only city and near suburban driving. Just 150 miles on my new ES and I sent it to the dealer for body side moldings. I loved the clean lines w/ the molding and the genius that mounted mine put it at center door height which is ideal for dink prevention but I would have preferred lower down. MY bad that I didn't talk to the installer and left it in the salesman's hands; but maybe fortunate in the long run if I get used to the placement. Car's gorgeous anyway. |
