Never noticed anything as it goes through all the gears,it will only use 6th gear when hitting 35 to 40 mph and when in 5th or 6th when I jump on it,it jumps to 3rd without any hesitation,it seems to respond very well.I was a little worried how it would be before I took delivery but my bro-in-law who races Mazda's told me not to worry this tranny is very sweet.so far so good

I'm sure 6th is a tall gear for economic highway cruising.

Plus, more shifting is normal given you have more ratios, especially if your previous car only had a 4 speed.

I live in Colorado and have had the above car for almost 2 years and would like to know where I can obtain a space-saving spare tire for those trips to remote areas.

I have the 2007 and it came with Run-Flat Tires. I hear they are expensive to replace. My car is new, so I hope it's awhile...Good-luck finding what your looking for!

Considering a used 2006 model -- but some questions by pasquali56

I'm looking at a 2006 MX-5 (18k miles, like new, silver, saddle leather interior), but am concerned about a few things:
1. A noise coming from the rear when I hit bumps or dips in the road. It almost sounds like suspension. The dealer (a Toyota dealer in Dallas) said it's no big deal, because this car still has the bumper-to-bumper warranty. However, I called a Mazda dealer and he said bumps and noises are covered for one year only.
2. This vehicle has had two owners in two years. I see on CarFax that it didn't have any wrecks, but am still concerned about buying any car with two owners in such a short period of time.
3. Price: They're asking $21k for the car (before negotiation). Anyone for a shot at what would be reasonable -- if I can work out the noise issue?

Thanks.

Run, don't walk.

First off, I've been looking at 06s and they've fallen in to the $17k price range.

I doubt they will deal down from $21k to $17k.

So it's not a good deal and has a questionable history to boot.

$21k will buy you a new one if you shop around.

Used MX-5 offer: Good deal? by pasquali56

Okay, I found another used MX-5 in the Dallas area for sale and would appreciate your input (anyone). This is a 2004, standard, 32k miles, BOSE, leather, loaded, very clean. For sale at a dealership at $15,950. Seems like the price is pretty close to book value. What would be a good deal on it? Also, is it worth buying an extended warranty at this Mazda dealership? Thanks.

Sounds like a good deal...Does it have heated seats, cruise control, etc? I would make them go over the warranty with you in FULL detail before purchasing it. Sounds nice.....Good-Luck!

Keep in mind the 2004 is the previous generation Miata, or NB. The 2006 was an NC.

That is a very well equipped model, but I still find the price high. It is a dealer, of course, so no surprise there.

32k miles is low for a 4 year old car, too, but you'll find lots of Miatas have low miles because very often they are a 2nd or even 3rd car.

Well, we decided to pass on that other Miata. Instead, we found a 2006 Grand Touring with just over 4k miles, one owner, loaded up with standard, premium package, satellite radio already in, spoiler, silver with saddle leather interior for $18,850. This is essentially a new car. Any thoughts on this? Thanks again, and am looking forward to joining the Miata fan club.
