And sold for much less, in street prices.

Not that I expect this one to get such discounts.

I can't wait to get one when they introduce them to the United States. I bet if I got the Mazdaspeed MX-5 with the retrac.hard top, it would cost $30k which is a good price for a fast roadster...

2006 Miata leaks by bf2212

I just bought a 2007 Miata and it is currently in the shop for the second time having a leak repaired. The first one I found when I jumped in my car and put my foot in a puddle. The second occured after washing the car. I found a puddle in the trunk and behind the drivers seat. The first time I was told it was a plugged drain. I find out tomarrow what the problem now is. I'm worried it's a design flaw that may not be able to be fixed. Anyone have any ideas?

They should be able to fix it. Otherwise this thread would be quite busy with leak reports, and it hasn't been.

I had a mysterious puddle one single time, though I have an aftermarket Robbins Top that I installed myself, so I can't blame Mazda for that!

06 MX-5 Mechanical Problem by kking40

I have a 2006 Maza MX-5 with a 6 speed automatic transmission with 11,000 miles. I have noticed when driving on a hot day or in heavy traffic, the car looses low end acceleration. The car just boggs down. Usually after about 45 minutes of driving. It almost feels like vapor lock, but it's not. It has done this since I bought it. I thought it was the AC, but it still does it with the AC off. I have been using 93 octane. I tried 91 octane and the same problem. I took it back to the dealer and they could not find the problem. They checked the ignition system and could not find any problems.

Has anybody else had this problem? I need help to instruct the dealer on how to fix.

Please, take no offense to this, this is just my opinon. But unless you do not know how to drive stick, this car, and sports cars in general are never to be purchased with auto trans. This one especially. This transmition is always hunting for gears, personally, the worst auto trans I've ever driven. On the other hand, the stick is one of the best on the market. Sorry to break that to you. I know you probably love that car, i would if i had it. Problem is, at 6'5" i barely fit in it... actually i dont.

Again sorry. If you don't know how to drive stick, learn, and trade your car in for one with a manual trannie...

You say that, yet...

At the Zoom Zoom Live event, the Miatas with automatics were besting the times for the manual ones. Consistently. Best time, average time, the autos were quicker, across the board.

Sure, maybe a pro can squeeze more out of the manual, and I agree they're certainly more fun, but on that day, on that track, the automatic KILLED the manual every time, it was just embarassing.

Sure on performance it beats the manual tranni... But most people don't get a chance to floor their gas pedal every takeoff of every day. Most miata buyers want to have a "connection" with the car as they go on their sunday morning scenic drive. Most people do not want a automatic hunting for gears while maintaining a constant speed on a level road. Yeah that happened to me. I got on the highway, via a downward sloping entrance ramp, and took it up to 60 mph. Do you know that when i reached 60 mph it went from 6 to 4 back up to 6 down to 5 down to 4 and finally settling on 5th gear. Then after exiting the highway and coming to a stop, i lightly accelerated. Do you know that that car's transmition started off in second, which by itself isn't bad, but from second it went down to first, then back up to second. All in the time it takes to go, with constant acceleration, from zero to 25mph. That is one stupid transmition. And obviously it wasn't the only automatic doing funny things.

I'd never buy an auto Miata, I was just sharing what I observed.

I'm quite happy with my manual, it probably has one of the best shifters in the industry (as long as the shifter turret has gear oil).
