Don't overlook the Ford Taurus X. It is built on the Volvo platform and is very similar to a PAC as far as layout. I really did not like the way they drive, but as well as the PAC's, they are really popular in town around here.

The GM trios (Enclave, Outlook, Arcadia) are awesome. But also pretty pricey. This was my vehicle of choice, but $12,000 more then the '07 Pac that I bought with like for like options.

I agree, the Ford Taurus X falls into this CUV category, and I should have brought that up. I think pssimon slammed Fords in his original post, so I didn't pursue that car make other than defending it.

A legitimate knock I would make on the Ford Taurus X is that it has been a slow seller for Ford, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they cancelled it in the near future. Personally, I wouldn't replace a cancelled Pacifica with a maybe-soon-to-be-cancelled Taurus X. The fact that they are offering $4K rebates right now on this vehicle is a telling fact. Also, Ford renamed it the Taurus X in an effort to boost sales, it was formerly known as the Ford Freestyle..........Why anyone would name a vehicle after a swimming stroke is beyond me.....

I agree that the Ford Taurus X has tested pretty well in car rags, but it just hasn't caught on. I know the biggest knocks on it have been the underwhelming 200 HP V6 , which is not much in this category. It also has just a 2000lb tow rating, which is half of most of the others we have already mentioned.

AM radio stopped working... by sandyl

The dealership is going to replace my radio (only 22K on my 2006), but I find this problem very strange. I can get FM, Satellite, use the CD player, etc. I just cant seem to hear AM stations. The seek finds them, but you cannot hear them.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Things I like about the Pacifica:
  • 2x2x2 seating"

  • "The capacity of the vehicle when the seats are folded down"

  • the flexibility of changing form strictly "limo" to "part limo" when taking long road trips with the family.

  • It feels good on the road.

  •
With 3 kids, separating them is a good thing!

For those few that thought I was slamming Ford..... it wasn't really a slam to Ford as much as a compliment to Chrysler. Ford's just aren't up to the level of Chrysler in some areas, thats all.

Does it show I've been driving a Chrysler product since 1974 (except for few weird years when I had a 1982 Honda Accord.... one of my bigger mistakes! Never a Honda owner again!)

Another Pacifica for Me by djag

I finally bought a 2008 new Limited with all options on Ebay for $29,000 new looking at many other options. I have a leased 2005 Limited which as been terrific and every way. The 6 speed and 4.0 liter make a big difference. I honestly could not find a better option especially for the price. Considered the new GM crossovers (Saturn, Buick, etc.) but they really were not dealing. While they are now discounting Pacificas $4000 there are no new Limiteds at this price. They are all gone. I am convinced that even though they are orphans, at least the Limiteds will hold their value because of the MB engineering and the E model drive train in this vehicle. This was the first and last vehicle they did jointly before selling Chrysler. Sorry MB it didnt work for you. I hope Chrysler make it but it is a long shot with $4 gas.

    Good points.

Both the PAC and the Freestyle/Taurus X seem to be extremely popular in town here. I tried both...could have lived with either, but settled on the PAC for styling and the way I was treated at the dealer.

Our local Ford dealer is pretty "old school" while the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealer is very modern with amazing service hours.

After now putting 10k on my Limited PAC, I still love the car. The 2+2+2 seating is great, BUT, sometimes I wish I has a 7 passenger setup rather then just six. Keep in mind, when you have 5 people in this vehicle, there really is not much room for luggage. Unlike a large sedan where you have a huge trunk to use. When you have 6, you are screwed.

I agree on the luggage issue..... We do take family trips and there are 5 of us. If it wasn't that I can fold down the unused third row seat this car wouldn't work for us.... but it does, so it does!

well, if the 2+2+2 seating is at the top of your list, if I'm not mistaken, that leaves just the Pac, mazda5, and benz R-class. The Pac is dead, so that leaves 2. And they are at FAR ends of the spectrum.

Certainly, the mazda5 is not going to feel or drive like the Pac, nor does it have as much room. The Benz is quite nice, and available with a diesel, but its quite costly.

Exactly! Thats my problem..... The car I want has gone away. The R class is obscenely expensive and not worth it, so it isn't an option. As for the Mazda.... well.... it's a Mazda. Enough said there!

This is why I am so confused right now!
