I have a 2004 Rio modified with a GT25R turbo and I still manage 26-28 MPG and make 152 hp at the wheels.. And that is a mix of highway/city and I'm a little heavy on the pedal sometimes..

how's your '04 Kia Rio been for mechanical performance and reliability? Reasonable cost to operate and keep the car maintained, etc.? I like the new '06 Rio5 and Rio LX sedans.

I'll bet you can really get that little car to scoot with the turbocharger, eh?

Reliability has been perfect, It doesn't use the stock ECM anymore.. It runs a MegaSquirt fuel/spark managment. No broken parts due to the turbo.. I had a throw out bearing exlope in the tranny but that's it.. The car goes like a scared rabbit.

MPG 08 Rio5 by max43

I just bought an '08 Rio5, 5 speed manual. For a 70/30 highway/city driving my mileage on the first tank was 33.2 MPG, second tank 32.1 MPG. I've heard that you can't expect the really high mileage until 10k. But for a new engine, the initial indications are good I think.

Same as the previous message, bought an '08 Rio5 LX w/ 5 spd, clocked in over 3800 on the odometer already, no frills basic car. Do about the same amount of driving 70/30 (hwy/city) because of work, about 340 miles a week. Even though its a small tank, 11.9 gal. - averaging 350 - 370 miles per tankful. Pretty happy with the numbers, I'm sure it will only get better. Not bad for a "puddle-jumper".
