Out here, where such a large percentage of the vehicles on the road are MBZs, many people play the game of trying to drive a less expensive 'C' class model and hoping that people will think it is a more expensive model. Many people with the relatively less expensive 'E' class cars do the same thing. It has nothing to do with how much the person is paying for their vehicle but what they are trying to make others think their vehicle actually costs. Just how many 'S' class cars does a person see where the model letter badging has bee removed?

Yes, there will be some that will do the whole debadging thing for the purpose you're stating, but...MOST do it because it looks good. Just because you don't or wouldn't do it doesn't mean that the reason everyone else does it is just to make others think they have a more expensive car than it really is. Before you go running around stating why folks do it, why don't you take a poll so you can have accurate information, rather than personal opinion...you might be surprised at how far off you could very well be.
