If you ask for a price that is realistic and are firm on it, then they cave without asking too much. They main trick I think is to avoid any phone conversation as they feel obliged to give you all their 'crap'. Email really help. But don't ask for the price until you find the right car (color, options..) They also tried to sell me 6.99% APR financing, when I told them I would go with my bank the finance guy left saying he could not do anything about it. 10 minutes later he offered me the Lexus customer plan at 5.7% Aside of that, the experience was pretty seemless. I was a bit of a pain client as I test drove the car 3 times and they are more used to one test drive and sign. Main thing that I think shoudl change is that they should really have a loaner car of each model ready to go for you with a simple signature. Instead I had to play the waiting game for each test drive. Not that bad, but really what would it cost to have a car just there in the front. just my 2 cents. BTW, I had same discount at 3 other dealership. so the 5k under MSRP is totally possible. The new RX doesn't sell as well as they expected I think and inventory is pilling up, at least on the 2WD.

Just wanted to add my two cents here because I was interested in leasing a 2010 RX350 or a 2009 ES350. I've read other people on this discussion running into the same problem with Lexus dealers in central New Jersey. Thompson Lexus , Lawrence Lexus and Lexus of Bridgewater were unwilling to negotiate at all on both the RX or ES. In fact, these dealers gave a worse residual on the ES sedan than the RX which I couldn't believe because the RX was newer, a 2010 compared to a 2009 that is almost at the end of its model year, and the RX was more money on its MSRP obviously. When I told them their residual was worse on the sedan than the RX they didn't no what to say. Suffice it to say I walked out and didn't get anything because I was completely turned off. I was trying to get them to come down only 1% and they wouldn't even do that. You would think with all these car makers having loss sales in June would do what they could to get the cars off their lots. What makes no sense is the ES sedan will be coming out in just a couple months with a mid-life cycled model for 2010 so you would think these Lexus dealers would want to start getting rid of their 2009 models. I've heard on this forum that Ray Catena in Oakhurst and Lexus of Edison are the only ones in central NJ willing to try and negotiate a better deal on both their financing and leasing. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and try to help steer people to dealers willing to not waste your time and tell you they'll work with you, string you along, and then won't come down anything on their offer.
