Replying to: lw914 (Jun 26, 2009 5:20 am) I showed him carsdirect.com and told him I could get the car for $43.500. He went back and forth a few times and settled at $43,000 even. That's around $1,200 over invoice but had to relent because this is a new year model and this package was hard to come by apparently. I called a few dealers in the area and no one had the color/.package combo I wanted. So I think $42,282 is a good deal. Maybe you should tell him you would settle for $42,500 and that's your final offer. Oftentimes I would tell them that and walk away, only to have them call me back the next day. You should try that since the month is almost over. I am a paitent man and number conscious (being a CPA). I would have waited till December if it wasn't the baby that's coming. $41k is an impossible price for that pacakge. That's around invoice and Lexus will not sell a brand new model around that price. Despite the economy brand new models are still expensive and RX is one of their best selling models. You could ask for $500 over invoice for an IS, since those cars are EVERYWHERE and the newness factor is gone. I still recall Lexus asking near MSRP when the IS first came out. In short your deal is fine. Dealer now know people do online research and they appear to have some type of collusion going where they all quote the exact same price. This happened with BMW. They all offered me a "final" price that was exactly the same. Sorry to ramble but I hoped I helped. Love the Lexus. Hate the buying experience.

I am looking for a 2010 RX 350 with NAV, comfort package and park assist. I live in Reno, NV. Any ideas how much I should pay. I contacted the dealer in Reno and they are basically not willing to come off the MSRP. I can drive to Lincoln Hills in California or any other dealer near Sacramento, CA. Is it true that Lexus won't sell across state lines, as other posters on this forum have said? I have been told that the RX's are selling like "hot cakes". Is this true?

It does have to be ordered from factory and will take about 3 months. Ray Catena discounted the standard model (list 46+ K) about $4,000. That was without negotiating. I'm pushing to get the car for close to dealer invoice. The salespeople are not too interested in a factory order since they will not get commission until delivered to you. It really is not much more work for them, other than to write up the order. One guy at Ray Catena said I would have to put down $5,000 on a special order; complete nonsense. I'm curious about another post that mentioned new options soon. Does anyone have anymore info. PS: I had a 2005 RX which I thought was one of the worst cars I've ever had but this new one overcame the objections and really stepped it up a few notches with the technology. I drove it twice and was very impressed.

I recently looked into buying it thru a car broker, and she was the one that told me that after checking with a few dealers. she said Lexus are now making more cars with more options now. Up to now, it is very difficult to find any RX's with Mark Levinson or Head up display or park assist, but she said you will start seeing them soon (maybe w/i the next few weeks). I am a little concerned about your 2005 RX. Like what kind of problems did you have with your 2005? Have you doen enough researches to see if 2010 has fixed all these problems.? I have a ES 330 and I love the way it drives, extremmely comfortable and smooth, I know the suspension on the 2010 RX are much better, but wonder how it is compared to my ES ?? I dont mind bying another ES again, except I dont like the interior of the current ES .... I am trying to wait until at least Sept or even until December to buy my RX, but I am still researching. thanks |

Johnlaur I spoke to Flavio at Ray Catina he seems like a nice guy who is willing to sell cars, but if you order they say MSRP and nothing else. At least Lexus of Lehigh offered me 2% off MSRP. Good luck with the order but for me I'm getting the Acura TL on thursday. Joe |
