tyler70, about the 19" wheels, we were thinking about getting that too but later found out at the dealership that the spare tire is a 18". I'm not sure what's going to happen when you have three 19" and one 18" on the car. Even the salesperson couldn't tell us why but we decided to go with the 18" instead. But I'm confident with Lexus that it's going to be okay.

I agree with you with walking away on that deal, you can do better as can be seen on this site by other consumers.

I am going to take a trip out to Oakhurst with my friend this month to see how well they will negotiate if you want to join in for a group deal of 3 truck sales I will be happy to let you know when we plan to go ?
Did you mention Joe's deal when you went ? If so what response did they give you ? I brought sideways3 deal with me to Freehold and they said no way possible and since they could not confirm the deal they would not come close to that number of 41.2K

also you can always wait out until August when they are looking to bring in the 2011 and sitting on these trucks

This is a modification to my original post - I realize now that I should also mention the price I paid included body molding around entire RX, two line pin stripe, all weather mats for cab and cargo area, tinted driver and passenger windows among other things. Lastly, it should be noted I waited over six weeks weeks to take delivery. Apparently even with a bad economy these vehicles are is high demand and you may have to wait. I was spending a lot of money and decided that I wanted the car the way I wanted it and it was worth the wait.

Thank you Tyler, but the salesman actually called me on Saturday to see what I wanted to do. He was surprised when I told him to keep his RX because I've decided to buy an Acura TL. I think I have finally convinced myself the RX is not the car for me so this week I'm going to get the TL. Ray Catena guys in NJ were very helpful but again when you say I want to order the car well no deal just MSRP. This was going to be my first new car and first SUV, but at least I'm still going to get a new car. Happy shopping RX10 customers but this guy is out.

Out of State Sales by claymatt

I am on the verge of wiring funds for a new Lexus to an out of state dealer, when he tries to pull out of the deal we've agreed to. He cites Lexus corporate policy to not sell to clients from other states. He says the reason is that Lexus wants clients to have the "Lexus Experience" and pick up new cars from the dealer, rather than buying and shipping.

If this is true, then the "Lexus Experience" stinks. I can only get the configuration I want from out of state. I can’t believe that Lexus’s focus on customer service would mean that a customer couldn’t get the car he wants. The “Lexus Experience” has got to be better than Ford’s old “you’ll get what you want as long as its black.”

Have you experienced this? Is Lexus corporate forcing their dealers to not serve distant clients? Or maybe my dealer got cold feet?

Thanks.

I think the wheel size is 18" but the tire is fatter so it shouldn't cause problems.

I got the red one this afternoon from Long Lexus in CA. Exact same package as yours. I think the MSRP was about 46k. I was hoping to pay no more than $42. The dealer's initial offer was $44,800. I laughed and said have a nice day. He called me back and asked me what I had in mind.

I showed him carsdirect.com and told him I could get the car for $43.500. He went back and forth a few times and settled at $43,000 even. That's around $1,200 over invoice but had to relent because this is a new year model and this package was hard to come by apparently. I called a few dealers in the area and no one had the color/.package combo I wanted.

So I think $42,282 is a good deal. Maybe you should tell him you would settle for $42,500 and that's your final offer. Oftentimes I would tell them that and walk away, only to have them call me back the next day. You should try that since the month is almost over.

I am a paitent man and number conscious (being a CPA). I would have waited till December if it wasn't the baby that's coming.

$41k is an impossible price for that pacakge. That's around invoice and Lexus will not sell a brand new model around that price. Despite the economy brand new models are still expensive and RX is one of their best selling models.

You could ask for $500 over invoice for an IS, since those cars are EVERYWHERE and the newness factor is gone. I still recall Lexus asking near MSRP when the IS first came out.

In short your deal is fine. Dealer now know people do online research and they appear to have some type of collusion going where they all quote the exact same price. This happened with BMW. They all offered me a "final" price that was exactly the same.

Sorry to ramble but I hoped I helped. Love the Lexus. Hate the buying experience.

Reno,NV - RX 350 by Feephee

I am looking for a 2010 RX 350 with NAV, comfort package and park assist. I live in Reno, NV. Any ideas how much I should pay. I contacted the dealer in Reno and they are basically not willing to come off the MSRP. I can drive to Lincoln Hills in California or any other dealer near Sacramento, CA. Is it true that Lexus won't sell across state lines, as other posters on this forum have said? I have been told that the RX's are selling like "hot cakes". Is this true?

Hi Joe,
I'm in Central NJ. and I am looking at the same car as you, fully equiped It list at about 55K and dealer invoice is 49K. It does have to be ordered from factory and will take about 3 months. Ray Catena discounted the standard model (list 46+ K) about $4,000. That was without negotiating. I'm pushing to get the car for close to dealer invoice.
The salespeople are not too interested in a factory order since they will not get commission until delivered to you. It really is not much more work for them, other than to write up the order. One guy at Ray Catena said I would have to put down $5,000 on a special order; complete nonsense.
I'm curious about another post that mentioned new options soon. Does anyone have anymore info.

PS: I had a 2005 RX which I thought was one of the worst cars I've ever had but this new one overcame the objections and really stepped it up a few notches with the technology. I drove it twice and was very impressed.

That "no out-of-state" is just a sales ploy. I'm talking to about 4 OFS dealers and none has balked at selling me the car.
