Additional warranties on New MDX by sport11

I purchased a new MDX with black exterior. Overall I must say it was a good experience until we agreed on the price. However, I am a bit confused about the additional services and warranties the finance guy tried to push.

How good is the Accura factory warranty? Is there a need to purchase additional warranty for $1800 to have a 100,000 mile warranty?

What is the GAP coverage

Is there a need to purchase additional insurance and paint protection and interior protection for another 480 or $$?

So far I drove Toyotas without any such add on purchase for the past 12 years or so- my cars have been of great value to me and never considered purchasing other types of warranties.

I thought that Accura is a great brand and did not consider purchasing all these insurances. I am thinking of calling Accura and get their opinion (whatever it is worth).

I really would appreciate the feedback from the community and the owners of Accura products.

Thanks

I'm looking for a 2009 RX350 with leather seats, & navigation.

The 5000$ Lexus to Dealer incentive, it seems, will expire on June 1st. Does anyone know if Lexus will follow-up with a similar incentive after June ? Is there a way to find out about these incentives ?

Also, price i'm getting for the base 2009 model is 30,117 (including destination charges). Is that a good price ?

Asterix4, Do they have new 2009's where you live? What area are you located? I can't find a 2009 anywhere in the northeast.

microcuts629 - You are right.. I found it out after visiting the biggest dealership in the region.. And there are no incentives on 2010 models.. I'm now starting to look at Acura MDX..

I believe there are lease specials on the 2010RX.

I am waiting for incentives on 2010, so far none. I bet others are waiting for incentives as well.Bet sales would increase if Lexus came out with incentives since I suspect many are waiting, but so far, it appears Lexus does not need or want to offer any.

Will be interesting as I continue to wait.

The dealer I went to mentioned leasing specials as well. I would love to know the specifics (MF/Residual) as I plan to be purchasing in the next couple of weeks. I want to make sure I am getting the best rate.

Incentives on the '10 RX? by smr36

I don't understand the logic of offering lease incentives and not a cash purchase discount alternative at the same time. At least for high end brands like Lexus, the market momentum would be greater (world of mouth by prospective buyers) and the cost to Lexus would not change. Further, they'd sell more cars. It's fairly easy to equate subsidized low interest to a cash discount.

I plan to buy an RX in July. Maybe Lexus will come through with something by then. Right now it looks like about $4k off MSRP is about the best I would expect here in the San Diego area.
