Replying to: dewaltdakota (Jun 05, 2006 7:45 pm) If your "no turn on red violation" is not happened in the same state where you live, the moving violation usually will not transfer to your own state's DMV. so you don't need to state this in your insurance application form and will not be penalized by this moving violation, if its a speeding violation, the violation will be shown in your DMV record even its out of state.

We just got a quote for replacing our 1996 Geo Prizm with the Fit Sport AT. $32 more, every 6 months. Not bad at all.

One thing that will hurt you is that you have never had insurance before, so the only past history that the insurance company has on you is that violation. And, they basically treat you with high risk driver at this point.   Good luck to you.

i am paying less than $600 on a 6month term. I never had insurance before since i just got licensed a year ago (been here in the USA less than 2 yrs). I am 30 yrs old and could have saved 100+ had I been previously insured even under someone else's policy.   i mainly looked for quotes online from geico, state farm, all state, farmers, esurance and progressive. I tried to do an apples-apples comparison on these insurers and the lowest quote I got is from progressive. This is because I was given a 5% discount for joining the TripSense program and $50 off for signing online. Rates differ everyday, so try to get quotes on different days using different email addresses. I expect to get lower rates on my next policy.

Just an FYI. To insure a Honda Fit in SF (as a single, one car owner) it is $680 with Geico and $800+ with other Well-branded Car Insurance Companies (AAA, Farmers, State Farm, Allstate, etc..). For 6 months coverage. Replies to this message: bobw3 (Jun 29, 2007 5:50 pm)

Through Progressive with 250K/500K, 100K with comp/collision coverage, I'm paying $305 for 6 months on my Fit here in central Florida.
