Trying to get quotes for my 19 yr. old son on his "soon to arrive" Fit Sport. Most insurance companies I have contacted do not yet have it rated. How have those of you lucky ones that already have your Fit's managed? I've given them the dealer price (pre-tax & fees), & tell them it has ABS Brakes, AirBags, Immobilizer, Alarm & just received a 5 Star safety rating. Anything else I should be saying to bring the rate down?? Oh, one thing they did ask about was Daytime Running Lights - yes/no?? Since he's still living at home, we're able to add it to our current policy & take advantage of the "multi-car" discount (40%), but it will still be costing him over $250/month!! Thanks for your help. |

For a 45+ year old, my insurance is $430 for 6 months at 100/300/100K, 100K Uninsured, 100K Medical, $250 deductible, and members generally get a 5-10% rebate each year (non-profit companies are nice). Also have multi-car discount, probably mostly effecting my old Jeep. This is central Florida (not SE FL). I have been with my insurance company for 20+ years (since my military days). I went through a similar check list. The web page knew what a FIT was, but rejected my VIN as "bad" because they did not have that much information on the car. Hopefully price will go down rather than up once more insurance institute type tests and repair costs are known. |

Please note my policy was written, before the official crash ratings were determined and released. The Base version of the Fit is a couple dollars less than the Sport to insure.

I've had about two quotes so far. I'm a 31 year old female, I've never had auto insurance before (lived in the city throughout my 20's although I did have a license and drove). What would you expect I should pay a month? My two quotes are putting me in at over $200 a month! Since I've never had insurance, I don't know what to expect. Can you make sense of this for me? Company A - with a $1,000 deductible, my 6 month premium (which they expect me to pay upfront right away!) is $1637. With a $750 deductible, the 6 month premium $1760. Company B - They're asking for a $651 deposit, then 4 monthly installments of $109. HUH? Then she tells me it's $1085 for a six month premium. I might go with this company simply because once I start my job in September (teaching) I can qualify for their group discount. What is causing these prices to be so high? Is it because I've never had insurance before? My driving record is excellent (except one stupid no turn on red violation). Any advice is appreciated- thanks! |
