I think that's a bit high for the 08... BUT that's just my personal opinion and I don't have numbers to back me up yet. My max for an 08 today (end of month Oct) would be no more than $35 drive out.

I did read however that even if you get the car at invoice price the dealerships are getting an additional $1000 cash from lexus (so don't feel bad) + whatever other numbers.

You mean $35K drive out for a car with no package and no upgrades right?

I read that I should be able to get at least $1500 under invoice even for a 09 model. But I can tell you they laugh me at my face even when I offer $200 over invoice and call me being unfair. Oh well...

I was thinking $35k with premium plus package (no nav). Invoice on that is around 33k + ttl = approx $35k. That's a little under invoice, which for the 08 isn't horrible. Considering that's not even $1500 under invoice. Just to clarify, phyll97 was asking for the 08 though.

On the 09, I think the 36k price that lexus14 got would be fair (still really interested what the final price was).

Yeah, I'm not getting much luck...guess we're waiting till next month or December. I had someone in austin quote me $37 OTD for an 09 (no nav).

Keep me posted on how your experience goes!

Weniki,

Try carsdirect.com. Just plug in your zip code. The last time I checked, their price is really very competitive... certainly nothing like 1,500 over invoice.

I found the dealerships in Houston were not willing to deal at all when I bought last year. Also tried San Antonio and they were very high to start with. I got the best deal at North Park in Plano. Good luck - you just need to do your homework and know what you are talking about so you can deal.

Ok this is what I got today and I think I am going for it.

I asked for $37,500 (including tint and pin stripe) + TTL. The invoice for the car is $36,610 (not counting some $515 which all dealers add to when they give me their invoice). With the tint and pin stripe work being ~ $400, I guess I am paying about $500 over invoice now, or just the "dealer invoice" if you count he $515. They have to order the car for me because the color combination I want is not readily available in most regions. I guess if I am more flexible on the color, I might be able to get a better deal. But I figure if I pay this much for a car and keep for a while, might as well get what I want exactly.

I know I am probably paying more than a lot of people pay but I am quite done with all the negotiating and talking and being called rediculous when I suggested anything close or under invoice. I am planning to pay the deposit to have the car ordered. Thanks for all your help!

BTW this is by far the lowest offer I get and this is from Park Place in Dallas. I live in Houston so I will not be able to take advantage of the 4 free oil change that come with it which really, cost about $240 + tax over 1.5 year.

First thanks to Nightowl and others for sharing some helpful info here.

We bought a 2008 ES350 today, premium+wood wheel+bluetooth+ ..., no navi, MSRP $37,520, Invoice $33,168, we paid $32 grands + TTL. We are very happy with the deal, expecially we got our favor color combination (dark blue/tan, quite hard to find in 2008s). How do you think? We are in the Bay Area and bought from Magnessen Lexus.
