Okay, who knows if I did it right but I wanted to share what I paid for my 2007 Outback wagon in case it helps a novice like myself in getting the price they want. I have the All Weather Package with heated seats and a bunch of other extras like all weather mats and compass rearview mirror, cargo light, ashtray and lighter, cruise control etc. Automatic transmission. The MSRP with DD was $25,698. I read that I should ask to see the invoice price and it was $24,400. I have no idea if it was the real invoice or not. I offered $23,000 and they accepted it. That included the $750 rebate and a 5.99 interest rate for 5 years. I paid a DD fee of $499 making my total price, before taxes, $23,499. I bought it at Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton, CO ( near Denver). Salesman was Cliff. Did I overpay? Hope this is helpful for the next person who doesn't really know what they should pay for a car! I think it should just be a law that dealerships have to offer the same price to everyone!!! To those who don't know anything about buying a car, NEVER pay the MSRP price and always ask to see the invoice price. Also, go lower than you think is fair, I wish I had, they were too fast to accept my below invoice offer!! Jill

Replying to: evergreen (Dec 03, 2006 10:12 am) Here in New York, there are tons of competing Subaru dealers, but there are also tons of people buying Subarus (and I suspect the same is true in Denver). The dealers are much firmer on price -- they can afford to send you on down the road and wait for the next customer. Dealers here simply won't sell you a car for the prices the MD dealers allegedly do. If Fitzgerald is actually selling brand-new cars for invoice minus holdback and then some and incentives, I applaud them, but it ain't happening in my neck of the woods.

Replying to: smittynyc (Dec 03, 2006 9:45 pm) We bought our '02 Legacy there, the prices are for real. They do have a $99 processing fee they disclose up front. The process was quite painless, so I will very likely go there again. My family has bought 4 cars from that dealership. -juice |

Most of the year you're fine w/o AWD, but then you get those 4-5 ice/snow storms? Are domestics more of a presence there than in the NYC area? I can literally go weeks between sightings of late-model American makes here(excluding SUVs). I mean, it's not just Fitzgerald -- there are several other MD Subaru dealers who have similar pricing. I actually did shop Fitz for a 2006 Sienna/2007 Legacy, but I figured that between the time spent and gas and probably a hotel room and everything else, it was too much trouble to save (net) two or three hundred bucks. |
