Changing Classifications by paisan

As for the outback.. my parents are somewhat put off by their experience with their current one, but are likely to accept a replacement and an apology from Subaru. The Outback continues to have a pretty stellar consumer reports standing still. They were also put off by a 2004 maneuver where Subaru raised the car a bit to push it into a "light trucks" classification and side step some fuel economy rules.

This is the same as the PT Cruiser and the HHR being classified as light trucks as well, have to work the rules or else you will be at a disadvantage in the market.

The gasket issue was well known, but they did offer 7/100 coverage if you did the treatment. Plus that issue was resolved around 2002 or so, they now use a revised gasket material.

Is the Legacy GT wagon morphing into an OBxt? :( by mystro

As the subject says,I can't seem to find any GT legacy wagons,a local popular LA car wash rated them as "the best/hottest looking wagons in the world"..now that's a true five star rating.

Has the the Legacy GT hauler morphed into a "OB" xt..how disappointing if so even though I am considering a move to the high risers simply for ground clearance reasons, the GT Wagon...I'd hate to see them fade.

05 was first and last year for an MT5 GT wagon.

There are rumors that Outback becomes wagon and Legacy sedan only.

and they did not kill choice of wagon or sedan, yet.
However it matches SoA policy of limiting the choices.
I do not like it.

I don't know about the argument that SOA is limiting choices. They just added four trim levels to Forester line up - CrossSport X-M/T, X-A/T, XT-M/T and XT-A/T. CrossSport XT-A/T comes with VDC and VTD. Mind you, this is a mid-year change.

May be Legacy wagons are really not selling well. Legacy is not marketed well in US at all. I only see ads for Forester , Outbacks and rarely Impreza.

I agree, marketing and bottom line mentality, you rarely experience salesman directing customers towards the much better priced Legacy L Wagons which basically do *everything* the OB does for thousands less, the L Wagon is a screaming Value in the savvy subbieworld if ya want AWD without w/wo Leather and the GT Wagon, although not a bargain is a hell of alot more fun then most so-called lux..we all know that.
