In my own experience for instance, I bought a '99 Sonata new, and now after nearly 10 years and over 100,000 miles have had no major problems. Good luck with your next brand purchase, no matter what it may be. |

| The seats in the Veracruz seem pretty good to me. It's got every adjustable option. Back/forth, tilt up down, height, back angle, even lumbar. Then you've got the power adjustable pedals and power telescopic steering wheel. | |

I believe the 09MY Veracruz is available in Canada. Any idea when it will be released to US dealers? Thanks. |

A reporter wants to interview someone who drives a 3-row crossover, has kids and plans to drive the vehicle to a vacation destination instead of taking an airplane. If this describes you, please respond to jfallon Thanks, Jeannine Fallon Coporate Communications Edmunds.com |

| I've been waiting several months now for the 09s to show up at the dealer. I've heard that they are being held somewhere, probably in outdoor storage lots, waiting for the dealers to get rid of the 08s. My wife is worried that, having sat for so long after manufacture, they may be subject to more problems than a "freshly made" car. At first, I told her that there was little to worry about, but the more I think about the gasoline in the tank turning to lacquer, small animals chewing on the wiring harness or crawling into the vents and dying, etc., the more I think she may be right. Any thoughts? | |
I was at the NY auto show and spoke to Hyundai rep. The 2009 Veracruz which is just now being released to dealers, does not and will not have a backup camera. To me this is an essential safety feature and deal breaker. The rep said that numerous people visiting the show have the same reaction. It is surprising that a company that seems to be so aware of upgrading their product, and is being very successful at it, would leave off such a major improvement.

Having known 3 kids run over by their parents, one died, who would not have been seen on side view mirrors, I feel very strongly about the camera. I do agree that you must still be vigilant and remember that it only takes a second for something peripheral to wander into the back view. My opinion.

I like Ford's idea much better, a driver alert system that detects if there are objects behind and to the sides of the vehicle. much simpler, much more practical, and so much better because the driver isn't fixated on a tiny screen inside the vehicle where they wont see anything coming at them from the sides. The VC can detect if a person is behind it, happens all the time when my dumb dog runs behind it when I'm backing. The moron plays tag with the car. |
