KUMHO TIRES by ibpublic

I have a 2007 GLS (love it!) with KUMHO 798 Plus tires. I live in the midwest and these tires suck on ice and wet snow! I have been stuck several times this winter. Has anyone with these tires experienced this. I'm thinking about replacing the tires but they only have 4000 miles on them and I hate the idea of the extra expense. What kind of tractions are other owners getting? Do you have a different brand on your VC?

The tranny is computer controlled thats why it down shifts its kind of odd but does not seem to effect mpg

You can have the dealer program the door locks to open all doors when the drivers door is unlocked or conversly lock them. I'm not sure if the key fob can be programmed this way through.

Yesterday we had the heaviest snowfall in 20 years, 16" in blizzard whiteout conditions. I was responsible for picking up our medical staff. The VC performed flawlessly and the tires were no problem. I was actually a bit surprised they performed as good as they did. Today I had a lot of vibration on the highway but it turned out to be snow in the wheels causing the "imbalance". It quickly went away when the snow melted. Can't say enough about the vehicle. Most of the staff I carried marveled at how it performed as well. They couldn't believe it was a Hyundai.

As with any "all season" tire, they are a compromise.

Personally I'd invest a set of dedicated snows and rims if you drive in snow often and save the OEM's for summer use.

What brand of tire do you have on your VC. The KUMHO's are not doing it for me on ice. Snows not a problem but we get a lot of snow that melts then freezes then it snows on top of that making driving a bit tricky. Thank goodness for the auto stick!

I bought a new VC in Feb. and just had to have the fuel pump replaced along with my steering wheel fixed due to a grinding sound. I mentioned I had to crank up the engine to get it started and that wasn't like that when I bought 3 mos. ago. I noticed it after 2 mos. They mentioned that there was a problem with a some VC's made at a certain plant that they had fuel pump problems with, but didn't tell me the plant. Did you notice the MPG improved after it was replaced. I only get 15.7 on the average mostly around town.

Does anyone know if the veracruz has that electronic throttle linkage ( which I know nothing about ). There doesn't seem to be an immediate response when I press the accelerator but just a (very short) delay. I think I read somewhere that that was characteristic of the electronic throttle linkage. Anybody got any info?????

Yes, I noticed that instead of a cable to the throttle, there in an electronic box connected to the gas pedal. I too get the same delay.
