After reading the owners manual, I see no mention of how to break in this car. Even my salesperson made no mention of it. Does anyone on this board know? Your input would be appreciated.

Today most cylinders are polished smooth(opposed to a honed finish of days gone by that required time for rings to seat). I would probably only pay special attention to maybe the brakes. No hard stops for the first few days of driving but that is only a personal opinion. Otherwise, simply enjoy your new car! Craig |

Replying to: rottencar (Nov 13, 2007 8:33 pm) Believe me you would be better off with a Toyota product, the Vera Cruz looks good from a distance but they have a lot to learn about quality and engineering!." Hlauburn, Curious, can you elaborate on this statement please. Not debating what your saying. In fact maybe your right but I'd like to know if you've compared the Hyundai Veracruz to say a Highlander. Motortrend seemed to state the Veracruz held its own against the Lexus RX350. Craig

I did not use my VC for seven days - it was just parked in the garage. When I attempted to start it, the battery was discharged. Does the electronic gagets on the vehicle discharge the battery that quickly. If necessary I will put a trickle charge on the battery when I am not expecting to use the car for several days. Does anyone know how many days a car will maintain sufficient charge to start the car -- many cars are parked for days at airports. etc. Thanks,

Replying to: jseidel (Nov 16, 2007 2:32 pm) Here's what I would do.......at night, get inside the back seat of the Veracruz and close all your doors and lock car with remote. Wait a couple of minutes and look in the rear cargo area and front seat area for a light that remains lit. Assuming you find nothing on I would then check for dark current(you may need the help of someone electrically experienced). What you do is disconnect the negative battery terminal and connect an ammeter in between the battery post and battery cable. I would expect to see a very small amount of current flow for only the radio clock....Something in the low milli-amp range. If you see something significantly higher you have something in the electrical system drawing current. Of course it is always possible your problem is far simpler and you simply have a weak battery(which is easy to test for with a battery load tester). Craig |
