You may not have one. It is standard on Frontier LE and Pro-4X Off-Road but is an option on the rest. I have an 09 SE and the cabin filter was not on the list of equipment on the window sticker and when I hit 15K miles and had the air filter changed, my Nissan Tech told me I didn't have the Cabin Filter option on my truck.

Maybe you don't either.

I'm uncertain about the '01s, but in my '06 SE (which *does* have a cabin filter), it's accessed via a glove compartment (the 2nd Gens have two glove compartments). Your '01 owner's manual should outline how to work the replacement if indeed you have a filter. Good luck in your search.

Yes, many owners use 87 Octane with no problems. Nissan has actually changed up the verbiage on the owner's manual. In the '05 and '06 manuals it reads that 87 Octane is fine, but they changed it to the verbiage you read in '07 (I think) despite there being no changes whatsoever to the engine or fuel system.

I sometimes get a wee bit of random, very light pinging at about 35 MPG under a light throttle running 87 Octane especially when I buy the occasional tank of no-name gas. It's light enough and brief enough that you cannot hear it unless the windows are down. I never hear pinging at any other time.

Good question you ask. Some people don't care about the extra cost of premium fuel, but I do. I am amazed at the number of modern vehicles in the U.S. that require it these days.

I have a 2001 4x4 SE , Every now and then my speedometer, tach, gas and temp guages will stop working for abit. I've read someplace that there is a sensor that goes to my tranny case for the speedometer and that most of my other guages are dependant on that particular sensor. IE if that sensor isn't working others will also not work. So far i've seen 2 similar wires and what looks to be 2 sensors going to the case. Im not sure which it would be and how to tell if its bad. Anyone else try fixing this problem or find it was something else. It doesnt effect me in any big way but if i can fix it i'd like to. When the problem does occur it seems to be completely random. I passed inspection with no issues at all. If the problem isn't occuring a computer doesn't pick it up.

My engine rattles on cold starts with only 35,000 miles and I know someone else that has the same problem. It sounds like heavy metal to me.

Has anyone else had this problem.

On my 98 Nissan Frontier, the door lock on passenger side has stopped unlocking with key. I took panel off but don't see any obvious problem. Would appreciate any advice on what the problem could be or how to fix. I have oiled key lock from outside.
