I broke it too but I figured Honda was exempt. Wrong! It also has been stated, even by prior Honda owners, that quality is not what it used to be especially on these Civics. Funny thing though I just got my annual new car issue of Consumer Reports and there Honda is...on top of the heap and still golden. Even the 2006 is better than average in every category, not mine though!

this guy told me he never even heard of the Lug Bug vibration problem. Located in NJ he did mention the motor mount problem but anything else he said the Honda 06 was bullet proof and mentioned there were very very few problems....with the vibration problem so common I was surprised he did not even hear of it. either lying or most of the 06 Hondas are kicking butt in NJ??? I know I have the vibration. Does anyone know the number of the Tech bulletin from Honda (he did ask for that)

Go to the list of threads and find the one labeled "lug bug" search around within and you will find the TSB number. I know because I entered it some time ago. Ah we are in that thread now, hah. Anyhow # is 06-059. You may want to read some of the posts here because it describes the symptoms..and fix.

I did a bit of searching around and found a copy of the service bulletin # 06-059 as it is actually printed. It is found in the "Honda Civic 2006+ issues" thread message #360. Good luck.

My lug bug is back!!! I was driving this morning and noticed that the engine is once again buzzing at 40 MPH and 1500 RPM. What do I do? The dealer already put the TSB kit in!
I'm starting to get pretty fed up with this car; my headliner is rattling again as well, plus I can't get the damn glove box to stop making a popping or snapping noise when it is closed, so I drive around with it open most of the time. Don't get me started on all the "crunchy" sounds the dashboard keeps making.

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of this car; I've grown pretty disappointed with Honda. What's ironic is that I had a 2000 Dodge Neon before this and always took lots of sh*t from my friends about what a piece of junk they were. In FIVE YEARS I only had to take it to the dealer 1 TIME for any kind of issues. In the 17 months I've had this 2006 Civic sedan, I've had it into the dealer no less than 8 TIMES for various problems!

To be honest, after I got the belt replacement as well, I always till had a very slight noise but not as much as with the original belt. You have to remember at 1500 rpm at 35-40 mph, you will still hear the engine drumming along at such a low rpm at that speed. I think we are hearing the engine now, not the belt.

I still have other problems that are not resolved as well and I do understand where you are coming from. Trust me I really do as I went through many months of being very agitated with my car even after the belt and motor mount was replaced.

The cold weather brings out more noise as things shrink and get smaller in the cold weather so gaps grow larger and tend to make more noise. My windshield area makes tons of noise on cold days.

I have considered myself trading for a 07 Honda element. I have do much research and since the model has been on the market sinec 03, most of the major bugs have been worked out. The do have a cracking windsheild issue though which I have to research more but the upright windsheild tends to get struck more while driving by small debris.

I have 9000 miles on my civic and have been back 5 times, only the last time yeilded the belt and mount replacement.

I also think one of my front struts is going bad as I hear a springy type noise when I go over humps at intersections. It makes the noise when the strut goes over something that causes a long travel.

I am at the point where every day I hear something that causes agitation and driving is not fun anymore.

The only we all have to consider (those wanting to trade) is the loss of value compared to the amount of money we owe (if a perons is financing). Most likely there will be a little negative equity which normally is not a major issue.

If you trade, what will you trade for? Many other new cars on the market also have issues that are causing people headaches.

Just my thoughts.

I'd think I would go with a Mazda3. I did have one of those for about 6 weeks before the Civic and after the Neon Long story short- had it, was in accident, got rid of it, got the bright idea of getting a Civic.

The Mazda3 had great handling, much better than the Civic and had a more torque-y 2.0 L engine. I don't ever remember hearing all the strange sounds in that car that I hear in the Civic. To be honest, I think Honda has let their quality slip while competitors catch up and overtake them.

Then again Consumer Reports loves all things Honda!

Consumer Reports gave the Civic a glowing review in the latest issue. I've been lucky, had the lug bug issue and had them retorque the rear suspension and that's all. I will have them relook at the rear & front suspension when in for my 10k service, hear some strange noise over speed bumps. May be nothing at all. Otherwise, very happy with my 1st Honda product. I did break my golden rule with buying a first year model though. Won't do that again though.
I've tweaked my LX with alloy wheels and an improved sound system...2 upgrades which have made me love the car even more. Plan on keeping this car well into the next decade...G-d willing!
