As just a guess...many of these service bulletins come out every week (month? as needed?) for every Honda vehicle so unless your particular dealer had an occasion to apply it to someone elses car it was under their radar. You had to bring it to their attention since you may have been the first.

Got down to the dealership and eventhough I had faxed the information down there last Tuesday, they never even bothered to order the kit necessary to do the job. The service writer started to give me grief about this TSB and luckily I had another copy to give him. Went with the service manager for a ride about 1 1/2 hours later and luckily he was knowledgeable about this TSB. He said he heard the noise but not with every accelerarion, but since I fell into the affected vin #'s and he said it would just get worse, he agreed to order the kit so I can come back next Monday to have the swap done.
Happy for that but I live about 30 miles away round trip & I tried to avoid a 2nd trip down there by faxing & setting the appointment over 2 weeks ago. Just shows that eventhough you can do all that's required...and then some, they still make it hard on ya. At least it will get done.

Is this problem with automatic transmission civic only? I am planning on getting 2007 manual transmission EX Trim. What you all think?

I've heard that it only affected '06 models within specific vin numbers. Go back a bit in this forum to see the TSB and it'll have all the information that you are looking for.

Car going in for lug bug and motor mount issue by kero1

Going back this wedensday to a new service department as the one I went to 4 times failed to fix any of the problems my car has.

I already printed out the TSB for the motor mount and the lug bug and will see how it goes at the new service department.

Honda Corporate Car is involved at this point, and the Lady in charge of my case knows the service manager personally where I am going.

I am going to give them both TSB and tell them I had to do my own research since the first place failed to correct the problems I am having.

Will update you after I drop the car off and find out what they say.

That good faith buyers should have to pursue this fix by their own wits is a disgrace and a travesty! I lived with this problem for a year having been assured by Honda America that I would be notified when a fix was found...only to discover it myself on the net. My dealer has been faultless in his response to my needs...if only the same could be said of Honda!!! Shame! Shame!! Shame!!!

It is problematic that Honda does not notify owners of cars that fall within specific VIN's described in their own service bulletins. I guess owners without the drive and knowledge to research their own problems...and fixes...are screwed. How many "normal" owners (those without any mechanical knowledge DNA in their body)will even identify they have a problem let alone beg service advisors for a fix that clearly is meant to be applied to their VIN.

I have to be honest in saying my visit tomorrow with the second service dealer for my many problems, I don't believe it will go any differently than the 4 times with the other place.

They don't take the time to drive the car enough to reproduce the problems. If you go with them and show them the problem, if it's not super loud or super obvious they say nothing is wrong.

I can pretty much reproduce the lug bug noise easily so that I think they won't deny is a problem.

The clunk on the right front side of car over bumps, they will most definately blow off.

The cold weather steering CRACK in the morning when turning the wheel they will have to let the car completely cold to check.

The reverse to drive CLUNK after letting off the brake they will also probably blow off.

The major glass issues, scratches and groves etc they will blame on me or car wash places eventhough 10 other people have not said they have the same problem with their civics.

This is my last chance before living with the problems and then writing Corporate Honda (not corporate care who is already involved) about my car and the service issues.

Maybe if I am lucky they can buy it back for a 07 at a decent value (not current trade-in value).

Let's see how it goes.

I too have the "glove box" noise and admit it isn't always evident. The service dept may not be able to reproduce it "at will" but I intend to take a copy of the service bulletin with me and combined with my moderate amount of mechanical knowledge plus the fact my car falls into the SN range I will try to convince them I know what I am talking about. After all I have heard this noise since near new and have done my own research for the fix and now that I have found it refuse to be put off.
