For the seats, turn the ignition key to the on position, put the shift selector in park, push the SET button on the door, hold it down and push button 1 or 2 and hold it until you hear the signal beep. it should now remember your seat position. this is from pages 247 and 248 of the 400h manual. my dealer did it with me as i was taking delivery of the car. as far as i know the Mark Levinson does not play mp3's, this and satellite radio were two larger exclusions to the 400h features.

i am also hearing do not put anything but a commerically made cd in the in dash changer, a home burned cd may not come out.

Re useing a home built CD in the player.. I have 4 of the 6 that are copies and never had a problem.. I wouldn't be concerned.
PS Looove the car! mileage winter Western NY ~ 25-26 mpg less than summer.

i just bought my RX400h last week and asked the dealer about XM and iPod adapters... although there appears to be a Vais technologies adapter for both, he gave me a vague answer that basically said, "i'll get back to you, you may have to wait a while..." does anyone else have more info that that? i love my new RX but if i have to listen to the radio any more i will lose my MIND!!

if you have navigation in your car, i strongly recommend the following:

VAIS Technology
phone: 720-733-2348
e-mail: infovaistech.com

I had the XM Vais adaptor with direct recharging IPOD hook up linked right into my navigation screen so it shows artist, title and if you are into sports, all sports scores are updated almost instaneaneously.

if you contact vais by email, they will locate the nearest dealer to get it installed. works perfectly. about $500 for the unit ($300) and installation (~$200). easily the best investment i made in the car.

one quick clarification. the direct Ipod hook up is an auxilliary connection only so you have to control it still through your ipod and it does not show the information on the navigation screen. the vais units let's you pick one item you want directly connected into your navigation while the other item has to go through auxilliary. i strongly suggest you link the XM into the navigation and use Ipod as auxilliary.

Does anyone know the process necessary to play DVD's from the Navigation system? I know there are companies that do this. Has anyone been successful or found the right equipment. I have a 2006 400H.

MP3 in 2007 400h by lhauser

I must be the village idiot, or at the very least a very non-tech person when it comes to autos and audio.

I have a 2007 400h, which has enough features to require an owners manual the size of a Chicago phone directory.

Even with all that wonderful information, it is a serious shortcoming on the part of Lexus to not have this vehicle equiped to play an ipod. Most other Lexus models do, but for some strange reason, not the 400h.

This vehicle does allow one to play an MP3, but (and here comes my ignorance on the subject), I cannot figure out what I need to do to listen to my favorite tunes as they are now just on my ipod.

Do I need to buy a separate MP3 player different from my ipod? Do I record from my ipod to a CD and play that? What is the best thing to do?

I tried to get an answer from the Lexus sale person, but she got a look of abject horror on her face, muttered something about "technology" and headed for the break room. I know - I should have stalked her, and forced her to divulge the correct answer - but I am not that kind of guy.

Any help will be most appreciated.

I agree. I'm also appalled by the quality of the Bluetooth system. Just primitive as far as the variety of profiles it supports compared to what it could/should do.

My dealer sells an Ipod integration kit made by Vais Technology (http://www.vaistech.com/) for quite a few hundred dollars. I just wanted an MP3 player, and this was a little much, but the Vaistech system fully integrates into the Levinson stereo and is supposed to let you control the ipod using the same controls as the rest of audio system. I have no first-hand knowledge, but that's all that I know about.

volume went dead after 2months new Lexus RX400H by bratu

It is a strange thing: after 2 months of completely normal sound, suddenly no sound from the speakers (radio/cd/iPOD) or from the dashboard!

This is a brand new RX400H! I am bringing it in to the shop, but it takes 3 weeks to get in. This is another issue at the manager's side of the dealership- I expected a lot better for Lexus and customer service.

Has anyone encountered this sound issue?
