As a new member, I appreciate all of the input that I've gotten concerning the Fit. I've been informed that my car (Vivid Blue Pearl, 5 spd) should be arriving in 2-3 weeks, I can hardly contain myself!!

Ahhhhhh.....my dream car is coming soon too, same car same color.

"I forsee that the MT's resale will hold better than the AT's because of all the 5 spd modifications that are now available for the USDM Fit MT."

What are all the 5 spd modifications that are now available for the USDM Fit MT?

Thanks,
Kip

Check out the above link. It contains a wealth of info and links to products for modifying the USDM Fit, plus the photos of modified Fits are truly inspirational. Its forum is full of fitfeaks!

Great site! Thanks!

I may not have spent enough time looking.

Please help with why the Manual tranny will have a better resale than the Auto tranny!

The market will be stronger for used MT's not only because of their higher real world MPG, but also because the enthusiasts who are heavily into the Fit (because it’s a fun car to drive and, historically in Japan and Europe, a super car to modify -- i.e., increase performance and/or personalize the styling), overwhelmingly prefer the MT to the AT. Plus, the aftermarket producers of body kits and performance parts have been developing for the MT almost exclusively. There’s a brand new magazine, Siphon (subcompact car modifications), that featured the US Fit MT along with some of its currently available aftermarket parts in its premier issue. Modified Fits (MTs) are popping up in all of the major Tuner Magazines. The Speed Channel on TV highlighted the modified Fit MT in its popular “Street Tuner Challenge”. The Fit MT is rapidly gaining ground in Autocross.

In short, the MT is a hot car, the AT not as much.

Right now, demand for the MT is outrunning production and demand and I don't forsee a reversal in that trend.

I don't think that modifying a Fit MT necessarily increases its resale value. (In fact, I'd tend to believe that in most instances the opposite would be true.) But I definitely think that the market for used, stock Fit MTs will remain stronger, longer, than the market for stock, used Fit ATs.

Will 2008 have a better driver's seat? by ten_year_man

Before buying a 2007 Fit, you might want to read the thread on seat adjustment issues. Quite a few people (myself included) are having a difficult time finding a comfortable driving position. The steering wheel is too far away and the seat doesn't provide enough thigh support. Maybe in 2008 they'll offer better adjustments and a telescoping steering wheel.

I agree. I've had several cars that simply were a chore to drive for long periods.

Before making a purchase I would suggest driving for at least an hour without getting out. If there is something about that seat that just won't get right, BEWARE!

Diesels are far superior in terms of economy I drive a Toyota Hi-Lux I think it's called the Tacoma in the US and with the diesel I get about 12km/l in the city and 15km/l on loner rides but not really highway like in the US. If I take the expressway it's not often enough that I would notice a jump in economy. So for a 4 door 2x4 pickup truck with a 5 foot bed I am getting better economy than I did in my Jazz. I just love diesels, shame when I move back to the US I won't be able to get one.
Lots of power where you need it and I had a 13B Turbo diesel in my modified 1983 Toyota Landcruiser 36 inch tires and 4: lift kit, did a lot of offroad in that up in the mountains and the diesels had all the power you'd ever want, sure it wasn't stock but after driving a diesel it is hard to go back to gas.
Most Americans haven't really used diesel so they have a lot of misconceptions about it. In the 4 years I've lived outside of the US I've learned a lot. I'd go for a diesel anytime and it would influence my buying decision if I can get one versus not getting one. It's a shame the Suzuki Jimny isn't available in a diesel. We also have the new Suzuki Sprints and they are similar to the Mini Cooper in looks but are more powerful than the Jazz/Fit and handle better, no diesel tho.

What does that equate to in MPG? What is the size (liters) of that diesel, and is it turbo charged?

I agree! The pathetic attempts by GM and VW in automobiles sold here would best be described as failures.

The VW did get good fuel mileage. However, it was noisy, smelly, and a real lack of power for 2 lane highway use.

Nothing that good to say about the GM products.

Full size P/Us have had a fair amount of success when heavy loads are the norm. But for the everyday drivers, that I've known or encountered, the slight increase in mileage is off set by higher cost in fuel, higher cost in maintenance, higher buying price and lower selling price.

In my area, yesterday , diesel was 10 cents a gallon cheaper than gas. However usually diesel is 10-20 cents higher. Didn't use to be that way!

I believe for diesel to be accepted here, it has got to "SHOW" us something that it has not in the past.
