My thinking is since the production line would be new, then there would invariably be initial manufacturing "mistakes". Do you think that would still apply even though the Fit has been in production for so long?

It is possible (and likely) that Honda will build the Fit in the United States in the future, but they haven't officially announced anything, and it definitely wouldn't happen until the second generation. If you look at the CR-V, it was introduced to the US in MY 1997. Only this coming model year will it be produced in the United States as well. If the Fit does take off in the US and Canada, Honda may need to add the Fit to an existing North American plant. My guess is that it will be several years still before a US-made Fit exists. "Do you think that would still apply even though the Fit has been in production for so long?" I can't say for sure, but the Suzuka plant was the first one to build the Fit in 2001. I would have to think that after all these years, the problems would be worked out, especially since the Fit has been receiving such high marks for reliability all over the world. |

Honda could probably produce as many as 175,000 Fits from that plant on a per year basis.

Do you think Honda will make any changes to the current version in the next year or two?
