Satellite Titles/Artists won't Scroll by amorrow0

Ok, would someone please help me out . . .
 
When you turn on the Camry, you get the scrolling "Welcome to Camry" message; however, my satellite radio titles and artists' names will not scroll! Are they supposed to?
 
If anyone else has the XLE 2007 Camry, and/or has the standard XM Radio for the Camry, I would be very interested to know if yours is scrolling. It seems like it should!
 
I'm also having a problem with the 'Mode' button - or switching back and forth from radio to satellite. It regularly cannot do it, and I either have to cycle back through to radio or satellite - or turn the car off! Not a good solution.

Massive Oil Leak by patty19

Two weeks ago I had my oil and filter changed at the Toyota Dealer. This past Saturday I drive 168 miles outside of my town. As I pull up into the parking lot I see smoke and smell burning. Once the car cools off I pop the hood and check the oil and there is oil. It's bone dry. I drive the car 1/10 to gas station and put in 4 quarts of oil. There is a leakage as I'm putting the oil in. I start the car and massive oil gushes out. Someone at the gas station checks underneath the car for to see if the gas cap is loose or gone. It's still attached. What could possibly be wrong with my car. It's a 2007 with only 35,500 miles. I bought it brand new and only had it for 2 1/2 years.

Hi, Patty; sorry to hear about your troubles. Sounds like the dealer's mechanic messed up when reinstalling your oil drain plug (not gas cap) after emptying out your old oil. (There were two things he could have mis-installed: the drain plug...or the new filter.)
Word of advice: GO BACK TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT TELL HIM YOU DROVE THE CAR AFTER FINDING IT WAS EMPTY OF OIL.
Bottom line is, his shop IS 100% responsible for any damage that may have resulted from your car leaking out its entire oil supply out onto the road......but, he will TRY to blame YOU if you make any mention of KNOWINGLY driving with no oil. Tell him you stopped driving right after you smelled smoke...checked the oil...saw it was empty...and added oil right away...THEN drove to his shop.
The drain plug must have been left out........or, the threads were stripped when it was re-installed, or the filter wasn't tightened properly and one of the two was leaking from the minute you left his shop.
Either way, it's obviously all his fault, and I'd be prepared to name a lawyer if he starts to give you push-back of any type whatsoever.

Before I noticed leak on my Camry as well. I found that the technician in Toyota service did not place the oil filter properly and it was leaking. Since then, I check if there is any leak everytime I change the oil. Since there is no oil remaining in your Camry, it may cause severe damage in the engine.

The first poster's response is very good advice. Another thing I can add is that sometimes when an oil filter is replaced, the rubber gasket may stick to the engine, rather than coming off with the filter; if a new filter and gasket is installed when there is an old gasket already there, this will create a leak, which may not show up right away. Alternately, in very rare cases; a new oil filter will have a manufacturing defect, such as a tiny hole in the body. In such a situation; everything can be installed and tightened properly, but there will still be a leak.

Thank you for responding back so quickly. I'm so worried that I would get stuck with a massive bill from the Toyota Dealer. I had the car towed and delivered to them at12:30am this morning from 168 miles outside of where I live, because there was no way I could drive it and I didn't have anyone to call. The towing was quiet expensive, but I didn't know what else to do.
  
PS: I didn't know that a mis-installed drain plug or new filter could cause a massive oil leak like that.

Yet another possibility, a remote one to be sure...
 
The engine lubricating oil pump's pressure releif valve failed in the closed position and the excess pressure ruptured the oil filter.

Thanks everyone for responding to my email. I just got off the phone from Toyota Dealer, it's the oil line that broke. It's under warranty, which is great, but it's going to be 3 to 4 weeks before I get my car back. The part is on back order, which will take 3 to 4 weeks. They are going to reimbursement me for the very expensive towing that was 160 plus miles and I get a rental car for.

Hey, Patty.......so glad you ended up having a good experience with your dealer. It's nice to know they're looking after you. I'm surprised your oil line is covered under warranty...(perhaps you have an extended warranty, because I don't think it would be covered under the standard factory warranty...) but, hey, we're not asking questions at this point, right?!?

On other fronts, I believe you said your car is a 2007, yes? If so (and if it's an automatic), and if you've noticed any hesitation at intersections (i.e. acceleration is 'jumpy' after having slowed down), and/or if you have rattles coming from around/under the dashboard when traveling over rough roads, there are TSBs (technical service bulletins) issued by Toyota that instruct your dealer to fix these (unrelated) problems for you free of charge.

Notmybmw, I have experience recently some hesitation and told them about it. They blew me off by saying it's suppose to be perform that way. I have to go to the Dealer today and drop off my receipt for the towing. I'll have them check he hesitation before I pick up the car in a month. I also wanted to ask you, does it really take 3 to 4 weeks to order a part and fix it. Apparently the warranty is 60 months/60,000 miles along with a basic of 36 months/36,000 miles.
