Leasing question by johnboyps

Does anyone know if Mercedes has decent leases for used SL's? I am considering leasing a used SL instead of a new one. I don't put many miles on a car and thought leasing a used one might be cheaper on the payments. Does anyone have any input on leasing used? I have always leased new cars.

Thanks

SL500 lease up in two months by rking1118

I have a 2004 SL500 with the lease coming due in mid May. Residual is just over $49,000. I love the car and have had virtually NO problems with it. The car has 39,000 miles on it and will be about 7,000 under the amount allowed by the lease (12,000 a year) at lease end. These vehicles are going for around $40,000 at the auction and only a car that has been completely reconditioned is worth close to what my lease end buyout would be. I know this car and have done the maintenance on it, however with 40,000 miles, I will need to replace tires again, do the brake pads and a B service if I keep the car. I have been told that I may be able to negotiate a better buyout from MercedesBenz financial. What should I offer? I would not mind keeping the car, but not at the automatic buyout. I am considering offering $40,000. Is that even realistic? Thanks in advance for any help and guidance.

Rking, I would pitch the 40k buyout to MB Financial. They are usually willing to negotiate, specially since models similar to yours are no where near your buyout price. Residuals are generally projections and estimates of what your car might be worth at lease end so I would never pay that price. I know my sister was able to renegotiate her Volvo S40 (I know, not the same car but same idea) at lease end and was able to shave $3000 dollars off the buyout price. You got nothing to lose.

Can someone post the 2009 slk lease rates?
I have a 2009 slk 350 on order. it should be coming in within the next month.
I feel a little exposed that i do not know the current residual and money factor offered.
The dealer said they could not tell me until it comes in.
