http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/opel-astra-will-be-new-saturn-ion-172436.php According to this site, Autoweek is saying around 16K msrp to start( probably 5 door, since the 3 door is being otuted as a sportier model). Here's hoping that AW is correct.

Not happy. No Center armrest for the front passengers( you know, the console/armrest thing most cars have, so you can put your junk in them, then rest your arm on it). It is being picky, I know, but hey.... I want my armrest, and not some cheap thing hanging on the side of the seat, you fold down. Seems Suzuki is going this route, too, with their SX4 sedan. What gives? We going back to 1990, when all small cars were what I call for 2007, decontented on the interiors? Nice car, but I hope, I really do hope, GM decides to "Americanize" it some, and add a "cheap" center console/armrest. Got spoiled since 1999, having this "feature" in our Hyundai's and Scion tC. Kind of nice to have, really. Holds lots of stuff I have no room for in my glove box, and nice to rest your arm on something wider than a pencil(like the fold down arms, as options on SX4, think a package deal). take care/not offense.

It looks good in Blue. No question. Very good in Blue. Wish they were out now. Really would like a test drive. The old Storm was fast, fun, and not bad( a lot of people do not care for it's looks, these days, when I mention it, but the one we tested was great...we were burned on our Isuzu-built 1987 "Chevy" Spectrum,so we did not get the Storm). Hoping this brings more of the same type of fun, decent MPG, prices, etc...but updated(and way better built, in general).Rumors have a sedan on the way(?)...next year? For us, 3 doors = more versatility to haul stuff( only need room for 2 people , for us). If the 167..3 inches total length is true, a tiny bit short for me, but... I drove a Spectrum, and then a Sentra( about similar length, nearly 14 feet, also) for years, up to 1999. I wish they were more up front , though, with the exact launch date, or at least a given month, vs saying"Fall",or late 4th qtr, or whatever. tc/no. |

Replying to: rockylee (Apr 24, 2007 9:16 pm) Wonder what MPG is on this(have not heard yet)? Should be what, 32-34MPG, at least(automatic)? yes... that would be interesting! Anything that is sporty designed, handling, and gets 40-50MPG, that is really interesting! That is one way to get people to take (even more) notice of your product, especially these past few years, of $2.50-3.50 per gallon! Have a good one. tc/no
