Larger front and rear bumpers
Slightly longer hood, headlights, and front quarter panels
Available cruise control
Side-curtain airbags
5-speed automatic (5MT is the same as everywhere else, save for a few different ratios)
Modifications for EPA in the L15A engine, different intake pipes
Drive-by-wire throttle

Those are the major items with some smaller things here and there, but for the most part it's pretty much the same.

The fuel filler door is higher up on the body side -

Also I don't think all the engine mods are EPA related - it's been said that the VTEC timing profile is different FOR MORE US MARKET POWER

The profile may be changed so the power curve has been modified, but all the power specifications are the same (including when it reaches peak torque and horsepower). However, the redline is higher.

Jazz vs. Fit by hondalove

Hi,
I have a comment and two questions,I wish the Fit had the side blinkers just like the Jazz on the front fenders for base and on side mirrors for sport, also more interior color choices,ie.,Jazz comes with a nice beige interior color that has the light brown dash and the seat fabric with the door panels,Honda used to have that light brown dash on other models in here on Civics and Accords.
Now the questions,Since Jazz is suppose to have a redesign for 2008 are we going to get the redesign Fit for 2008 or we have to wait for another 3 or 4 years to see the new redesign in here since Fit is the first year in U.S? 2nd question,Where is the temp gauge I've heard that it's a blue light but how does it work?

The temperature gauge consists of two LEDs on the right side of the instrument panel near the fuel meter.

Whenever you start the car when the engine is cold, the blue LED should light up. After about 1 minute, it should disappear as the engine begins to warm up. Hopefully that is the only light you will ever see.

If the temperature begins to raise up to what would be the area around "H" on a conventional temperature gauge, the red LED will begin to flash. In the event that the temperature goes higher and the car begins to overheat (actually hitting the "H" on a conventional gauge), the red LED will stop flashing and just stay glowing red.

Naming:
Fit: Japan, China, North/South America
Jazz: Europe, Middle East, Africa, most of Asia, Australia, New Zealand

The Fit will probably be redesigned in CY 2007, seeing that the car originally debuted in June 2001 for the Japanese market. It would probably be likely that the 2nd generation NA market Fit will be built in the US. Where exactly that happens is another question. Either they can free up some room at an existing NA plant, or wait for the new plant to be built. I have a feeling that will be after the new generation Fit debuts in Japan. Problem is that Japan-market, US/Canada-market, and most European-market Fit/Jazzes are built at the Japanese plant. It does not seem like an incredibly cost-effective strategy to build two generations of one car on the same assembly plant. With that thinking in mind, I believe the Fit will have a very abbreviated 1st generation run in the US and Canada.
...and with that, I probably kicked off another 2nd generation Fit debate.

Hi Hungarian83,
Thanks for the reply, the temp lights should be interesting to see at work,(I mean the blue).I have seen some probable designs for 2nd generation Fit it looks nice more rounded up at front end specially with the head lights,Do you think we would get the redesign in here shortly after introduction

I have seen some images floating around the internet, but everything is just done in photoshop. It will be quite a while still before anyone has a real idea of what the car will look like. Honda does a good job in keeping tight-lipped about these things.

As for when North America gets the redesign, I have no idea, but I am guessing it will not be too long after Europe and Japan. Definitely not as long as it took for the 1st generation.

Hi Hungarian 83,
Do you think it would be wise to wait a few more months to see the new Fit,after all it's been almost six years with the first gen.
