| Well, I am in the 40's group and would love to have the orange, but am too cheap to pay for the sport model. We ordered the silver, since base dx comes in blue, red or silver only. So, where is the screaming yellow????? I would like that, or a decent shade of green. A little car like this could look so good in hot wheels colours. A lime metallic green or a turquoise. Yeah, dream on. The blue has no depth. If my son didn't have a say, I would have ordered the red. It is a great colour and If someone thinks I am too old for red, too bad, since I am old enough not to care. If this was my car, as opposed to the family car, I would go for some kind of custom paint or decal job too. | |

I agree with trickydick1936. We've got a Sport MT in Vivid Blue, and the color works for the car. I can't explain it in logical terms, except to say that there's probably some extra margin of safety in driving a small car with an eye-catching color that (maybe) draws the attention of other drivers. I'm in my 40s and generally try to keep things low-key in my choice of clothes, hairstyle, etc. Our previous car was a Ford Explorer and I never could have tolerated an electric-blue version of that vehicle. But for the Fit, it seems fine. |

I (late 40s) preordered the blaze orange sight unseen, based on the extreme of the "extra margin of safety" just mentioned. All the others are the same old boring Honda colors that I always had to live with. Funny I love the orange and find it reason enough to get the Sport, but it seems to be perhaps the least popular color overall. The orange they use for the Honda Element - that IS pretty outrageous. That black interior really shows off lint, wish we had a choice there.

I then read a bunch more posts, including all of yours, and discovered that a) you live in or near Corvallis, which is where I grew up, where I went to school, and where I go for football games in the Fall, b) You have a 1987 Civic Sedan, which is the same color as the 1987 Civic Sedan that I sold a few years ago, c) You have a 1998 CR-V that your wife drives, while my 1999 CR-V will become my wife's car after we get the Fit, d) You also have an Orange classic BMW, while I have an Orange 1973 Super Beetle parked in my shop, d) You're in your late 40's, while I'm in my late-mid 40's, e) You're 6'1", while I'm 6'0". Basically, this is too freakin' weird! Related to the fit in general and yours in particular: -- I had no real reason to get the sport, and was happily shopping for a base model. However, I looked at the colors and there were only two that I wanted. The black is nice (when clean), but our CR-V is black and I kind of wanted something different. That left the Orange. However, that meant upgrading to the sport model basically for the color. Sure I'll enjoy the cruise control and the alloy wheels look nice, but really it is all about the color. However, I'm a bit concerned that the Orange is a bit too "burnt". What do you think? Your BMW is a bright Orange, like my VW. Do you like the Fit Blaze Orange or do you wish it were brighter? By the way, have you always liked Orange cars (I've had 3 in my life) or is it related to OSU? While my first Orange car was prior to me becoming an OSU sports fan, I admit that I do like the idea of driving down to OSU games in an orange car. But, it's not really an OSU orange, is it? -- Did I interpret one of your messages correctly that the alarm system on the Sport can't be turned off and has a vibration sensor? So, if my tiny car sits out in the parking lot at work and the wind starts to blow hard (like it does often, being near the Columbia Gorge), will I earn a lot of enemies with my alarm constantly going off? Thanks, Mike Battle Ground, WA

By the by, I don't 'loooooove' beige interiors, I simply want a light-colored interior that isn't going to soak up so much heat during our California summers. Honda offers two options in interiors on the Fit, beige and black. Guess which one doesn't soak up so much heat? And yes, I'm already aware that tint helps.

Replying to: waltersbg (May 01, 2006 10:20 pm) First, The orange BMW is not mine, just a neighbors. ALTHOUGH my first car was a burgundy red BMW (a 67 2000ti; never seen one since in fact). Also, my Fit security alarm did go off right when a bug gust of wind came up, but I have not been able to set it off with rocking or vibrations since, and it is NOT supposed to be set off that way, as was pointed out. Why it happened once is just another mystery I guess. To continue the parallel universe: -I also had a VW bug (although it was light blue) -My wifes CRV is the dark green (sometimes it looks black) -I have not been much of a sports fan, but immediately considered making my car look like a Beavers (OSU's team name) mascot, or at least add a Beavers sticker (the "cute-scary" beaver emblem looks kind of like the Fit anyways). See one juxtaposed with my Fit at: http://pnwpest.org/len/fit/fit_beaversumbrella.JPG The orange in the umbrella example is rather like the Fit orange. So there may be more Orange Fits coming to my town Also, this is my first orange car; In 1984 we bought my wifes Accord hatchback (lt blue) and they had a "copper" color that I rather disliked. Although the Fit Blaze orange is slightly "copper orange" it actually looks great. Overall I hope orange is becoming more mainstream, too many red cars out there. Anyway, enjoy your sporty "coppery" not "burnt" Fit. You will need it to hightail it out of Battle Ground the next time Mt. St. Helens blows Len
