Honda Fit Color Opinions?

From all that I've heard I'll definitely be picking up this car before year's end, but I am somewhat flummoxed by Honda's choice of colors. It seems like they honestly thought that only the 18- to 25-year old 'Fast and the Furious' crowd would be interested in this thing, totally ignoring that its practicality (can carry lots of stuff, great gas mileage) and quality interior would be luring a large number of middle-aged folks like myself. Leafing through the color choices, I'm stuck with the following: Blaze Orange: Neat! But I'm not 18 years old, and frankly it would embarrasing to be seen around town like this. Lunar Mist Metallic: This is the one Fit color I've seen in person, and frankly, I wasn't impressed. On the Honda website it looks like a light silver... it isn't. In real life, its really a kind of 'ice blue' or silver/powder blue that is a bit fem and unappealing, to me anyway. Maybe my girlfriend would like it, but I can't see a lot of guys digging this. Milano Red: Somewhat appealing, but a ticket magnet and still a bit under my age demographic, thanks. Nighthawk Black: Classy. Definitely in the running. Taffeta White: Never have understood the point of white cars. Boring-looking, and any dark dirt/silt/mud shows up instantly. Vivid Blue: I like blue, but not this blue. Kind of a nuclear/neon blue, again, we're playing to the kiddies, not the adults. Storm Silver: This shows promise. From pics (not just Honda's) this looks like a 'true' silver, very stately and put together. So it looks like I'm going either Nighthawk Black or Storm Silver, but for anyone who's seen these colors IRL, what's your opinion? Does it really look the way it does in pics, or were you pleasantly suprised or disappointed? And are some of the color I dismissed better IRL? Additionally, and for what its worth, I wish that Honda would: 1) Include more 'grown-up' colors, like Graphite (which looks SO good on the Accord) or Forest Green or a Navy Blue. In fact, they really need an 'LE' version of this car, for the over-35 crowd, where they ditch the spoiler and air dam crap and give us some chrome window trim and a few near-luxury options. Yes, it'd sell. 2) Offer the beige interior more widely. For example, on the Fit Sport, if you want the beige interior your exterior color choices are Taffeta White and... that's it. What da heck? You'd think they'd at least offer it on the Nighthawk Black, where it would go pretty well. Let's face it, a lot of us are bored with dark interiors, and they aren't very practical in sunny/hot climes. Yes, window tint can help some, but a combo of window tint and a light-colored interior is even better. I'm pretty tired of climbing into a steaming hot car all the time 6 months out of the year, and no, my workplace parking lot DOESN'T have significant shade. Well, that's my take. If you've got one too, and/or have seen Fit colors I haven't IRL, 'holla' like the young folks like to say.

Replying to: johnnyvj (Apr 29, 2006 12:49 pm) So, I will wait until the 2008 model, check into the new XA, Versa, Corolla, at the same time next year to see who has what I want..... I want the height adjuster, center arm rest and dead pedal if possible. And, I bet they ( Honda ) will have those on the Fit next go around and I just don't want to be left out. No, I will not accept after marked anything.. |

| Well, I am in the 40's group and would love to have the orange, but am too cheap to pay for the sport model. We ordered the silver, since base dx comes in blue, red or silver only. So, where is the screaming yellow????? I would like that, or a decent shade of green. A little car like this could look so good in hot wheels colours. A lime metallic green or a turquoise. Yeah, dream on. The blue has no depth. If my son didn't have a say, I would have ordered the red. It is a great colour and If someone thinks I am too old for red, too bad, since I am old enough not to care. If this was my car, as opposed to the family car, I would go for some kind of custom paint or decal job too. | |

I agree with trickydick1936. We've got a Sport MT in Vivid Blue, and the color works for the car. I can't explain it in logical terms, except to say that there's probably some extra margin of safety in driving a small car with an eye-catching color that (maybe) draws the attention of other drivers. I'm in my 40s and generally try to keep things low-key in my choice of clothes, hairstyle, etc. Our previous car was a Ford Explorer and I never could have tolerated an electric-blue version of that vehicle. But for the Fit, it seems fine. |

I (late 40s) preordered the blaze orange sight unseen, based on the extreme of the "extra margin of safety" just mentioned. All the others are the same old boring Honda colors that I always had to live with. Funny I love the orange and find it reason enough to get the Sport, but it seems to be perhaps the least popular color overall. The orange they use for the Honda Element - that IS pretty outrageous. That black interior really shows off lint, wish we had a choice there.
