Is there a reason to purchase the extended warranty immediately with delivery of the car? I thought that we have until the 3 year / 36,000 mile standard warranty expires to purchase the extended warranty. What are the trade offs?

I have read many of the postings about the dealers in Richmond, VA and Mechanisville, VA...to all of you who posted that info, I personally thank you. It saved me hundreds of dollars. The price quoted by these two dealers was $795 and $840 for a 6/100K/$0 top of the line plan for my TCH. I had intentions of buying the Toyota extended warranty from one of these dealers, but my 'local' dealer stepped up to the plate and we agreed upon a price when I informed them of my findings..in the end to meet the competition, the dealer came down $30 and I went up $30 to end at $845. As much of a 'car buff' as I am, I had never thought of 'shopping around' on a mfg's warranty. I thought the price was the price, but I was obviously wrong! |

| I am purchasing a Camry Hybrid in Toronto. Here in Canada, they charge $1,999 for a 84mo/120,000km Extra Care Toyota warranty. Anyone know if a warranty purchased in the USA applies to a Camry Hybrid that was purchased in Canada? | |

He kept coming down on his price so much, as I just sat there, stuck on knowing that I could buy it elsewhere! He finally came down to $1000 for the platinum package, which was more than the superstore, BUT it is all done together, and financed with the car, and I am assured that this is in fact a toyota warranty. IF it had turned out that the superstore warranty had NOT been true toyota, my husband would have been fit to be tied. I wish now that I would have know for positive and had the printed paperwork with me at the time I picked up my car, but .... live and learn. That's why we share right here, huh?

Has anyone in Canada purchased a Toyota, USA Platimun warranty? Toyota USA says that's no problem. A Virginia dealer says they will sell me a Platinum warranty, no problem. Toyota Canada says that if I buy a USA Platinum warranty for a Canadian purchased Camry, I will have to travel to the dealer I purchased the warranty from if it ever needs waranty service! They even go one outrageous step further and say if I relocate to the USA (I'm living in Ottawa now) and have a Toyota Canada warranty along with my Canadian purchased Camry Hybrid, the warranty will be void! Toyota Canada wants full price for an equivalent 72mo 100,000 mile warranty but as indicated iin this forum and by calling a Virginia dealer, the price is about 50% of the Canadian price. Thanks for a reply to this query.
