It seems like there is some sort of indentation on the LHD models to rest one's foot. What I mean is that if I rest my foot next to the clutch pedal, it's not like it just slips off the wheel well. Sure, I suppose it would be nice to have a proper dead pedal, but there is some sort of "semi-dead pedal" there.

If I am not mistaken, our 1st generation CR-V has a dead pedal, and that is essentially a RHD model that was switched to a LHD format. I think it is just a general lack of space in the Fit that prevents this from happening due to the intrusion of the wheel well.

Ok backy. For a lot of people, that first initial sit down in a car says a lot. To you it doesn't. Fine. Whatev. But if you want me to physically go and test drive an accent to prove to you that I dont think that it is comfortable to ME, thats fine. It's really silly, but if thats what it takes so be it. I just don't understand why its so hard for you to understand that some people may not hold hyundai in such a high regard...i've seen your other posts, any one who says otherwise seems to be in for a long discussion on why hyundai's are the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't get me started on the 3i's handling. Please. I wish some mazda guys or any other people familiar with the better handling cars in that segment (3, civic) could witness the weirdness of these comments.

You don't need to do anything on my account. We can just have different opinions on this. I just didn't appreciate your initial comments in which you said people who didn't agree with you were "stupid" and other derogatory adjectives. I am glad you are approaching this discussion more civilly now.

If you don't hold Hyundai in high regard, fine. I know a lot of people don't. But there are people like me who think the Accent is a decent little car, and believe it or not it's not because we're stupid.

You are really taking away the credibility of Honda owners in here bud... meybe lighten up and don't be so hard on others. It's not a fight or a competition just because there is vs. in the title.

I'm a Honda fan more than a Hyundai fan, so don't feel like I'm a Hyundai person ganging up on you, I'm not.

BTW, I'm not just referring to this specific post I replied to.

who think the Accent is a decent little car,

The Accent SE with Sun and Sound package is a great small car.

Hey, did you actually find one to drive?? That's been really hard for me. The nearest I could find anywhere in my area with an inventory search is one SE automatic, and I'd like to try the stick. I can live w/o the moonroof and optional sound system, but I'll bet it's fun.

Yes I did. It was an automatic, SE, with the moonroof and stereo package. Was located at a brand new Hyundai dealership that had moved into a failed Mitsubishi dealership's location. The Mitsu situation is a sad one.

I was impressed with it. Wish they had a four door hatch version. For those who do not need the utility of the Fit I would suggest checking out the Accent SE. It was nicer than the Civic Si 2002 I used to own!

Now, if the Elantra would only show up, that is what I really want to test.

Regarding the Fit, the only thing I really would like to see is an optional sunroof or a model with a sunroof.

The problem with the Accent SE is that the dealers do not want to discount it and it is difficult to justify the value of the Accent compared to a Elantra or Sonata.

Same problem with a Fit compared to Civic or Accord.

The Accent SE I test drove was wine red with gray interior.
The gray interior did not appeal to me at all. It made the interior appear "cheaper" than the quality of materials would suggest and I suspect it would be difficult to keep clean.
No Accent 3 door with black interior were available, therefore I was not able to evaluate the interior in black.
My exterior choices would be silver or charcoal gray with black interior.

Something that was interesting to me is that the Accent SE reminded me so much of the Honda Civic Si 3 door of the early 90's, only modernized.

I saw a Civic hatch the other day and thought the same thing. The taillamps were almost the same shape on the two cars. The Civic was boxier in back and the front ends are different, but overall quite similar.

I saw red with a black interior at an auto show and it looked too austere for my taste. But then I'm not a fan of black interiors in general, especially in small cars.

I too am having trouble finding an SE to drive. My dealer here has had me on a call list (2 months now) for when they get one in. They told me they may not get one this year. Jackson, MS area.

The base hatchbacks they have are very nicely finished and are really sharp lookers.

If any of you have found SE's, what areas are these showing up in?

TIA
Ray
