Wipers by kaputnik

I've had my Fit for almost a month, I've driven it a little over 600 miles. So far I really love the car but tonight was the first time I drove it in the rain and found something that really bugs me. The windshield wipers were apparently not changed from the UK/Asian model so they're backwards on the US model. Consequently, when the wipers are on they both stop right in driver's line of view out the windshield. I guess that's not all that bad (not ideal either though) but then the wipers leave a mark where they stopped too. So the passenger gets a nice clean windshield instead of the driver. It really irritated me for some reason and distracted my driving. I would think Honda could've at least changed the wipers, how big of a deal could it have been. Makes me wonder where else they cut corners. At least we hardly ever get rain where I live.

wow, I have no idea what you're talking about. I got my Fit last June and the wipers work just fine. The rear wiper may be in the original configuration, but the front wipers are totally americanized.

If that's reeealy the case, take the car back immediately.

Brakes too loose? by anahita61

After almost two weeks and about 550 miles, I'm noticing I have to press the brake pedal really far to the floor before the car begins to stop - I don't know if I just didn't notice it before today, or if there is a fluid leak or what. Does anyone else have this issue with the brakes? Mine's the Sport MT.

So fitman, my wiper blades rest in front of the passenger and when I turn them on they come up and stop in front of the driver and go back down and rest in front of the passenger. This is obviously configured for the driver to be sitting on the right. On my other car, and others I've been looking at lately, the blades rest in front of the driver and when turned on go up and stop on the passenger side and then go back down and rest on the driver's side. Do your wiper blades rest in front of the driver or passenger? You say they're Americanized but mine aren't. I'm actually kind of upset about this and am thinking of selling the car. It's very annoying and in my opinion could be a safety issue. I'm surprised no one else has brought this up on this forum.

My wipers are the same way, but I hadnt really thought much of it until you mentioned it. I just think the wipers are odd because they are absolutely HUGE compared to what Ive always had, but the placement of them would make more sense in reverse, as you had mentioned... the passenger does have a nice big clear area to see when its raining.

gas mileage still sux by wrkoutgrl1

My only complaint thus far is my mileage... I am averaging around 24 mpg I dont drive like a crazy person, and dont drive much on the highway, but I figured it would get better by now. I have around 3k miles on it, took delivery in Dec. 06, and it hasnt improved one bit. my husband loves to laugh at me and brag about the 30mpg he gets on his crappy old saturn, because I refuse to get in it or drive it because it is so old, dirty and stinky... but it definitely is kicking my Fit's butt in the mileage area. Of course, I will be sure to complain about this when I take my Fit in for service, and probably rather loudly

Wow, that's weird about the bad mileage - are you driving with your a/c always on or something? Do you start fast and hit the brakes hard? I don't know, I can't figure that out. I hope it gets better. Maybe your calculation is wrong? How are you calculating?

Yes the move from the passengers side to the drivers side. They completely clear the driver's side and only 3/4 or so clear the passenger's side. Therefore, I conclude, they are correct for a left hand drive vehicle.

my wipers operate like every other car I've ever been in. The blade on the left side (driver's side) is pivoted at the far left, and that blade swings up and comes to rest at the edge of the windshield, or the driver's side A pillar.

when you sit in the driver's seat, which part of the wiper is furthest to the left...the pivot point, or the tip of the wiper?
