Hi. I have the 1 1/4" hitch on my FIT and I am using the hitch and bike rack at the links below:

BTW - etrailer is a great place to buy. You get free shipping on orders over $150 and great prices.

It works perfect with no clearance issues and I love it. I'm at work right now with my bike on the back of my car so I can ride directly after work. This is the best car I've ever bought. Love the subie and had a Forester before the Fit but the economical benefits of the Fit far outweigh the costs. The hitch rack works awesome.

Cheers,
Esther

#513 of 758 Honda Fit Sport Bike Rack Options!? by sportyfit

Mar 17, 2008 (10:17 am)

I just purchased a 2008 Honda Fit Sport and I was wondering what bike rack options were available? I know that there are hitch options, but I would hate to put a hitch on my car, and I am not too keen on roof racks either.

How about trunk racks?
Interior racks?

I know there are complications with the spoiler being at the top of the hatch, and I was hoping there was a way to work around it instead of removing it!

Might be helpful to look at the Honda UK site and Accessories for the Jazz. Let you see what's available here in UK, at least. We can have a front armrest, towhitch and a roof rack plus other stuff.

I recommend getting a hitch and the type of bike rack that attaches to it. I once had the type that attaches to the trunk (on a different car some time ago), and it fell off while driving! Fortunately no damage. I recently had a Subaru with a hitch and rack and found it to be a great way to go...the bikes are very securely locked onto the car.

I have a 2 month old Fit and am going to get a 1.25 inch hitch installed and buy a "Thelma" model Saris rack...its much lighter than the one I had on the Subaru, and looks to be easy to use. I've checked out both the hitch and the rack and haven't gotten around to getting it done, but need to now that warm weather is approaching.

Here's a link to the bike rack: http://www.bikerackshops.com/SARTHELMA.html

Good luck!

#516 of 758 Horn replacement for 2008 Honda Fit Sport by ez2be

Has anyone replaced their OEM horn with Hella Supertone or Stebel Nautilus ultra-compact air horns?

Please share your experience.

You know, I always wanted one of those police car horns. They make that annoying "braaaappp!" sound. I don't think that's an air horn, it sounds more electronic.

Thanks for the response but I'm really looking for someone who has done a "do-it-yourself" horn replacement on a Honda Fit Sport. I know I'll need to remove my front bumper to get at the OEM horn but I don't know what to expect once I open it up and I really don't want to do it more than once. I've seen diagrams of how the bumper comes off, but how easy is it? Will Hella Supertones and/or Stebel Nautilus horns fit into the existing space? Do either of those horns come with mounting brackets that will work? I seen lots of discussion in other forums not related to Honda Fits regarding whether either of these horns require an additional relay to be installed or whether they are truly replacement "plug n play". There seems to be no clear consensus on this particular issue so I'd really like to hear from someone who has "do-it-yourself" experience with a Honda Fit Sport. Is there anyone out there who can help? Please let me know. Thanks!

I have a Stebel on my motorcycle, but that doesn't help you on the Fit

I do have a 150db 150psi air horn on my Fit though. Probably still doesn't help you much.

The Stebel on my bike did mount to the stock location, so I'm sure it won't be a problem on the Fit. I do suggest wiring it direct to the battery, then use a relay off the stock horn cable to trigger the relay/new horn.

Mike, thanks for the help. How easy was it to get the bumper off your Fit and then back on again? Is the OEM horn easy to access once the bumper is off and is there much space there to work with replacement horns? Did your air horns come with a new mounting bracket that worked on the Fit?

Mike, I should of looked at your blog before my last reply as it appears you didn't need to remove your bumper since you mounted the air horns in a different location (wiring?). Nice pictures on the blog. You show great instructions/pictures for removing the stock radio and door panels for speaker replacement but don't show or say anything about your new installation. What did you install? Also, where did you get the instructions? Did they come with your new radio or are they from a Honda service manual? I could really use instructions/pictures like that for removing my bumper and replacing the OEM horn. You've added a lot of nice accessories to your fit but I'm surprised you haven't installed the rear bumper applique. I have one on my Fit and am very pleased with the appearance and protection it provides.
