You've brought up another good point: the lack of an adjustable seat height.

I'd like to sum up the "unfits" of Honda Fit 2007 (the lack of features that would stop me from buying a Fit):

- Remote release fuel door left out.
- Lack of height adjustable (driver) seat.
- Available exterior colors are not exciting and desirable - too generic!
- Carpet. Carpet. Carpet!
- Paddle shifters in awkward position during steering.
- Excessive dealer mark-ups.
- Road noise.

With the waiting lists to buy a Fit, there's not much incentive for Honda to make theses changes.

Oh, I dunno about that. Honda voluntarily offered a $1K rebate on the Fit in Canada to match a government "green" rebate. I think any company that wants to stay competitive will improve its product, regardless of how well they are selling.

I don't find any of the issues you mentioned as something I miss in my Fit. Actually, the only feature I'd like to have seen is a telescoping steering wheel.

I think that's why it's hard to get everything you want in an economy car. Everyone has different things they feel are more important than other things.

No other car has paddle shifters in their automtics, plue I'd think you'd want the paddshifters to move with the steering wheel, otherwise when you're turning and your hands are on the steering wheel, how else could you use a stationary paddle shifter.

The carpet and exterior colors are fine to me...no better or worse in my opinion than any other car in this price class. In fact, the interior looks in general of a higher price class to me. Same with the road noise not being too bad for a small car. I don't think I'd want the seat any higher or lower, so for me the lack of a height adjustable front seat isn't an issue. And there were no dealer markups when I bought mine.

Bottom line is that they'll put on any car what polls tell them the majority of folks are looking for and are willing to pay. And if you start having too many options in cars, that will also affect the overall cost of the entire line of a particular model. It's cheaper to keep the option list low.

I'd second all that bobw3 says. The Jazz/Fit is an amazingly competent car for it's class and price. Over here in Europe, where we have lots of small hatchbacks, it is still considering "Best in Class" despite other manufacturers having later models. My wife has had her Jazz for well over a year now. Zero faults and I generally have to plead, or steal the keys, to get a drive.

Sure there are things we'd all like to see on various cars. I'd like to try a Jazz with lowered suspension, bigger wheels and the 200bhp engine but it ain't gonna happen 'cos that's not the kind of car it is. Accept it for what it is and I really don't think the colours are any worse than Mercedes offer - for a whole lot more money and less reliability.

I think you've missed the entire point of the OP. With your attitude, things would never improve. Remember, you are *not* the 'standard'. What doesn't bother you may be an issue to others.

The bottom line is you're not the majority. doesn't matter how big you think you are.

Well, of course not. I agree the Fit should not have those features. As you said, it is not that kind of car. But it should have the basic features that you would find on even the entry-level Korean brands. For me, I would gladly trade the silly paddle-shifter and body kit, which may be appreciated by 10% of the buyers, for basic features (remote release gas door, seat adjusters), that 80% of the buyers would find useful.

Exactly what I was saying...but opinions are what make up the majority, so that's why I was giving mine.

I'd say the Honda Fit marketers felt differently, but they only use studies and analysis, not your opinion obviously
