Cal Lexus dealers can give you an even greater discounts on RX FWD (I've seen people here reporting $1200 off of the invoice price at Longo and Mission Viejo on FWDs), since this is much more popular config over there than the AWD. On the contrary, No. Cal dealers sell more AWDs than FWDs so expect better discounts on AWDs there. The sales tax rule is: If you ship your car to your home state then you only pay the sales tax in your home state after the car is delivered (or no tax at all, in case of Oregon, for example, since they don't have a sales tax). If you choose to drive the car (or someone else wiil drive it for you), then you have to pay 8.25% CA tax when you pick up the car at the dealership. In you home state, you'll then pay the difference on the sales tax. So, I paid an extra 0.85% sales tax in WA since our local sales tax is slightly higher than in CA (9.1% compared to 8.25%). The people at the DMV know all that stuff - you just need to show them your sales contract (make sure it show the amount of tax you paid in CA). Anyway, you won't be taxed twice but you'll eventually pay a cumulative tax at the rate of the sales tax in your home state. When you pick up the car to drive it to a different state the dealership will give you a one-way transit permit for the car (it costs about $16) that they wiil stick on the windshield. Zopuh

This site helped me negotiate this deal, which I am very pleased with. I live in Philly, so prices are not as good as CA, but I got the Neptune Blue w/Ivory, AWD, Premium plus, Navi, etc. MSRP $45,706. I also got dealer installed XM. Total purchase price $41,400 plus sales tax. In addition, I don't have to take delivery until end of Jan, and since I'm paying in cash that's another month of interest. The dealer was the one in Doylestown, PA. Very good experience with them, unlike others who kept telling me about doc fees, marketing fees, etc. This dealer beat everyone on price, was a pleasure, especially since other dealers kept telling me I had to take by Jan 2. Good luck and thanks to all.

Anyone purchase a RX350 with Premium Plus and Nav in NY? How much did you pay? I think the Premium Plus package is a standard in NY. I don't necessarily need the Nav, but if the price is good, it wouldn't hurt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am another appreciative forum reader who has benefited from the info posted here. Thanks everyone! Just brought home our 2007 RX350, AWD, 18" wheels, Premium Plus, Navigation, heated seats, black with light gray interior. MSRP $45,706, invoice $40,866. Long story, but after reading the forum for a month I used the tips and waited til Christmas slow-down to negotiate. Sent e-mails to Ray Catena, Burdick in Syracuse, Dorschel in Rochester and Northtown in Buffalo with my offer of $40,200. Ray Catena immediately offered $500 above invoice, Northtown came in with $100 BELOW invoice and Dorschel initially offered only $1350 over invoice. After negotiating Dorschel to match Northtown, I was close to accepting, then got a last-minute call back from Northtown saying they would go $400 BELOW, so I accepted. Final price $40,466 including destination, no extra charges besides TTR. I was extremely pleased, considering most buyers in the East can't seem to get below invoice. Internet sales guy at Northtown was terrific. Straight-shooter, personable. Love the ride!! Good luck.

So only Prem Plus - Luxury Value Edition, packaged with heated front seats, rain sensing wipers, headlamp washers, 18in alloy wheels with full size spare, towing prep package, cargo mat and wheel locks, with or without Nav. I passed on Nav (est additional cost $40/mo), as not available in my preferred colors. With December to Remember promo, I could have leased this car for $429+tx, AFTER a $2500 down payment. With what I learned from this forum, I was able to use MSD's to get the payment to $420.56+tx, with ZERO down payment. Total payment with tax $450 per month. Without MSD's, price offered with no down payment was $529, (which was still less than the promotion price), MSD's saved me over $2800 on this lease, what a great return on an investment!! Since my salesman knew almost nothing about MSD's, I don't think it is something they commonly use when negotiating prices, but this is how it works: Lexus allows lease customers to reduce the interest rate on their lease by making "Multiple Security Deposits" which are fully refundable at the end of the lease. Always ask about this option!! Thanks again to all who educated me, it made it so much easier to get a great deal! |
