My answer is: OTD stands for OUT THE DOOR. It means you paid that and no more. It should include all the extras the dealer claimed has put on the car.

I agree with there being something wrong in the Tri State Area. I dont understand how there is such a difference in deals around the country. The one thing that several dealers had in common was that they mentioned low inventory being an issue.

On a different note I was able to get a dealer to agree to $36,000 out the door for an EX-L w/ RES. After looking at the numbers I still did not feel like it was a true deal so I am waiting. I plan on trying again at the end of the month and seeing if I can get a better price.

The thing that is killing me is the posting of much lower prices paid in other parts of the US. I can't bring myself to pay 2-3K more just because I live in NJ.

As far as OTD: It means that the price agreed to is the price paid including all taxes and fees. So dont let them try to scam you. Anyone in the car business knows what it stands for!

I ended up pruchasing Mazda 09 AWD Sport with PWR Driver Seat, heated seat package from Crystal Auto Mall in NJ for 25,000 + 300(Doc Fees) + TAX and Title. I would have loved the touring but they don't have any.

I was in between 2010 Honda PILOT EXL for 33,000 + TTL or this one.

As it is saving a lot of money and adding the same value which can fit 7 passengers I pulled the trigger on Mazda. I really hoped Honda would have given a better price.

Cubrain:

It seems the dealers in Dallas area are too greedy. OTD price of 33000 – 33300 is reasonable price for a 2010 EXL Pilot w/o DVD even with the added accessories since all these cost around 200. Like you said all these are marked up over 200% and most of these are useless.
The followings are from a dealer in Dallas.
Tinted Protection Package (cargo tray, splash guards, wheel locks) $799
Door edge guards $299
Window tint $299
Hand Painted Pin stripe: $299.

It is hard to say in near time if we can have a good deal on Pilot in Dallas, probably other cars like 4Runer, Highlander are choices too.

Thanks and keep in touch.

I am in Southern California and want to buy a Pilot. I appreciate the recommendation on dealer and salesman. Would you mind sharing what you ended up with on price and features?

Which dealer in NJ did you get quoted $36k OTD? Im looking for the same model and the best price I got quoted was $33,771 before tax and fees so would be $36,135 with tax only.

edm11 ,
Did you have a dealer in NJ quote you 33,000 + title like you mentioned above for a 2010 Honda EXL Pilot ? Where at? And was this recently....

Guys

The update from my weekend efforts in NJ is that :
lowest price: 31, 600 + 710(dest charge)
Doc - $300 + tax and title additional $$$.
Highest Price: 32,900 + 710 +doc + tax and title

I think its a bit expensive by 2 to 3 K like one of the other posts. Am I totally off here. None of the guys had even atleast two EX-L for sale. They say they have a couple of them on the lot but some one put a deposit already and they are waiting for delivery. So the impression was sales guys were in no hurry to make a deal

I don't have the paperwork with me, but I bought a 4WD Touring with RES. I ended up at $500 over invoice, but also got them up and extra $1000 on my trade (which is significant considering it's condition and value). I also got my first choice in color (Polished Metal Metallic, which a vehicle search showed there were only 3 total with the same options for sale in the state).

I'm still blown away at how bad the selection is right now in Southern California. I tried 8 other dealerships near me, and couldn't come close to finding the vehicle I wanted. And I was even flexible between 2WD and 4WD. But I did want Black interior and RES.

I went to Van Nuys on Wednesday night and they only had one touring model on the lot (white/tan), but they told me they could locate one and would call me the next day (I didn't hear back until Friday). Thursday morning I went to North Hollywood, because they told me on the phone that they had a black/black touring model. We walked the lot and couldn't find it. Finally, they realized that the owner had taken it (not the white/tan that he checked out on the books, and was also sitting right outside the door). They didn't even offer to call and see if he'd sell it. They also promised to call me in a couple hours, after they located a vehicle for me -- didn't hear back from them until Saturday (and even then they said it would be another day or two).

When I got to Galpin, they had several Pilots with different trims on the lot.

Anyway, I just noticed that we're not suppose to give salespeople's names, so if you have more question, you can email me at bigoljerkaol.com
