Carlisle All-GM Show by lemko

Anybody going to the Carlisle All-GM Show this weekend? I've been busy getting my 1989 Cadillac Brougham ready. Hopefully the weather will hold - no rain and the temperatures will be more moderate. It was brutally hot at the Ford show two weeks ago.

I'm getting my '76 Grand LeMans cleaned up and ready to go, as we speak. Just came in to take a break after waxing it.

According to weather.com, they're calling for a high of 78 on Friday, 86 on Saturday, and 82 on Sunday. So it should be pretty nice weather. In comparison, when we went up for the Ford show on the 7th, the official high got up to "only" 94. I swear it felt a lot hotter than that! But then, we were out on the fairgrounds, mostly on the asphalt (or macadam, or whatever that stuff was they paved the aisles with), surrounded by sheetmetal. So it probably did get hotter out in the open like that.

My goal next year is to get my '67 Catalina up to the GM show. I'm supposed to get a big payout from my company for a bunch of vacation time I never used. Our current company lost the contract, and we were supposed to start with the new company at the end of June. But now one of the other losers in the bid (not my company, who is bowing out gracefully) is protesting it, and it's probably going to put off our transition until late October. I was supposed to get that payout in early July, and was going to use it to get some stuff fixed on the Catalina, like the top and motor, the leak in the transmission, and now the slow leak it has somewhere in the brakes. But now, I'll probably have to put that off until November!

Tomorrow I will have my 1989 Cadillac Brougham in the Cadillac-LaSalle Club's Grand National 2008 being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, NJ. It's located at 2349 W. Marlton Pike (Route 70 and Cuthbert Blvd.) Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.

Oh crap, Lemko I didn't realize that show had come up this fast! But then, it has been two weeks since Macungie! Wish I could get up there, but I just have too many other obligations. Hope you have a good time.

I just plotted it out on Mapquest, and its only about 133 miles away. Closer than Macungie, actually, which was about 190 miles from my place to that Burger King. Do you attend this show every year?

This show is held in different cities throughout the country every year since at least 1973. I joined the CLC in 1994. The Grand National was held in Lancaster, PA in 1993, but every year since I was a member it was held some place far from me. In 2002, it was held in Detroit for the 100th anniversary of Cadillac. I think it was held in upstate New York last year. This year, it's just across the river from Philly, so I'm definitely going to be there.

The Kirkland Concours d'Elegance is coming this weekend...should be a good show, highest end event in this area, as far as I know.

150 or so photos from the Kirkland concours - some are better than others as I wasn't feeling 100% and oblivious people were straying in front of me. Also a few pics from an adjacent Porsche gathering.

...is having its fall meet this Sunday at Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA this coming Sunday, September 28th. Hopefully the weather holds so I can take the Brougham out for its last show of the season.

I'm also looking forward to the Fall Carlisle Show the following weekend, and then Hershey the weekend after that. That will wrap-up the 2008 car show season for me.

Yeah, it's hard to believe the classic car show season is wrapping up already! Carlisle on the October 4th, Hershey on the 11th, a local show in Rockville, MD that I'm taking the LeMans to on the 18th, and then that's it.

The season seems like it really went by fast this year. But then, I think I say that every year.

Radnor Hunt Club Concours was a couple weekends back (pictures available), Carlisle is Friday, and Hershey is next Saturday. I'm also thinking about attending the Vargo Dragway show November 1st outside of Hatboro, PA.
