Thanks Parm, glad you like it! And yeah, I'm feeling a lot less paranoid about driving it a long distance now. However, yesterday it scared me a bit. I drove it to work, and when it was time to leave, I turned the key, and just got a couple clicks, like you get from an almost-dead battery. Tried it again, and more clicking. Third time was a charm and it fired right up. I'm guessing it's probably just a loose connection in one of the battery cables?

I drove my '76 LeMans today, and so far, so good. Sometimes it'll get fidgety on the first start of the day. However, today it did just fine, and I hadn't started it since Sunday afternoon. I would have liked to have put both the Catalina and the LeMans in the GM show, but I didn't have a second driver. One of my friends went up with me, but he's not that knowledgeable about older cars. He's afraid of anything where you have to pump the gas pedal before starting it!

They had the class for the full-size Pontiacs and the 1961-81 Tempest/LeMans side by side, so it would've been kinda neat to see the cars on the show field, almost side by side! They had the GTO in a separate class, as well as the Grand Prix, so the Tempest/LeMans group was pretty sparse. A couple '66-67 models showed up, a 77.5 Can Am, and maybe couple '68-72's.

Never heard of that show before...is it very big? Unfortunately, this is the same weekend as the Mopar Nationals in Carlisle, otherwise I'd be tempted to look into it.

I'll be out that way in the beginning of August, for the car show at the Das Awkscht Fescht in Macungie, PA. I have my '67 Catalina convertible registered, but if something happens to it, I have my '76 LeMans as a backup. And if that one gets cranky, I guess I can always fall back on my '79 5th Ave!

**Edit...I just googled the Deutsche Classic, and see it's all German cars. Seems kinda ironic to have it in Fleetwood! I wonder how Cadillac owners take to that!

I'm trying to post our flyer on SOFTIN's July 25th car show at the Earl Warren Show Grounds in Santa Barbara. 100% for Charity to help fund programs for the physically impaired, mentally impaired, victims of abuse, elderly and youth at risk. Can someone please explain how to do that here? Each time I try, it just comes up blank.

I'm taking my 1989 Cadillac Brougham to a show in Stuttgart and then to Munich!

There is that small but rabid contingent of Europeans who love big American barges. Your Brougham would have some fans for sure.

I usually attend Das Awkscht Fescht in August as well. And, yes, the Deutsche Classic is all German cars. Some interesting stuff comes out of the woodwork for this show. Last year, there was a 1944(!) KdF...the earliest Volkswagen I've ever seen in person.

On the way to the show, you can get your picture take in front of the Fleetwood Metal Body Company building, which is still standing.

I just caught mention of this in the local paper.

GTO and Grand Prix Co-Vention
Nutter Center (Wright State University), Fairborn (Dayton), Ohio

for July 10-11, 10 am - 5 pm.

The parking lots are all reserved for the particpants! and a shuttle service for $1 from Lot 4, a campus parking lot, is being used. If you googleearth the Nutter Center, that is a lot of area for the participants so they must be expecting lots of cars from the two clubs. This includes the unpaved remote parking for the Nutter Center.

More info with links at

nuttercenter.com for July 10-11, 10 am - 5 pm.

Well as soon as I get off my butt and throw the beer cooler in the trunk, the 5th Ave and me are Carlisle bound! I'll catch up with y'all when I get back on Sunday!

from the Mopar show in one piece. It was a fairly productive trip, too. I ended up scoring a gas tank for the DeSoto, and some Cordoba/Mirada style aluminum rims. They were filthy, but should clean up pretty well. $75 for the set. Once they're on my NYer, it should look sorta like this.
