Replying to: lemko (Jun 25, 2009 9:38 am) I actually thought about putting my '79 5th Ave in the burnout contest at the Mopar show, since its rear tires are crap anyway...just make sure I have spare tires and wheels in the trunk! But with my luck, I'd end up dropping the transmission or something. And while I only paid $900 for that car, I'd rather not do something stupid to it that turns it into junkyard fodder!

Replying to: lemko (Jun 25, 2009 11:40 am) That 4K mile 5th Ave was nice, but I think I'd be afraid of a car that nice and that low mileage! If I ended up killing the transmission in my 5th Ave, I'd probably just get it rebuilt. It's simple enough that it's probably still less than $1000. Now the engine, that might be a different story. But then, if that engine did blow, that would give me a good excuse to put something a little hotter under the hood!

Replying to: fezo (Jun 26, 2009 11:55 am) I'm hanging out at a nearby hotel now, and going back tomorrow morning. It's supposed to be a beautiful day, although pretty hot. We tracked the Catalina's fuel economy coming up. Not too bad actually. 16.8 mpg over 118 miles of mostly highway. Going pretty much with the flow of traffic, around 65 mph. Not too bad for a 400 V-8 I guess. Fezo, how far is Allentown from where you live? There's a car show we always hit the first Saturday in August out that way, in a town called Macungie. I registered the Catalina for that show. Unfortunately, cars have to be at least 25 years old for that show, so Lemko's Brougham has to wait another 5 years.

Replying to: andre1969 (Jun 26, 2009 2:00 pm) I ended up in the ER. I'd rather have been up checking out the leaky Catalina. I checked out OK. Worried because of headache that could have been related to ministrokes from seven years ago. They weren't. Not a good way to spend your day. I'm about 2-1/2 hours from Allentown. There's a maybe.....
