Yeesh! I don't like driving the DTS in the rain either! Black looks AWESOME when the car is clean, but it is a royal PITA to keep that way. It's hard to wash as water spots form the second the sun hits them. It's hard to dry. You gotta be so careful as black scratches if you look at it the wrong way. It seems you have to wax a black car after every wash, because every spot you miss shows like a flashing neon sign. It takes me a very long time to clean the DTS, so much I think I'd rather pay to send it to a professional detailer than do it myself.

Maybe I can take my girlfriend's LaCrosse in lieu of the others, but she's afraid to drive any of my cars.

Have you tried using Downy in your rinse water? Neighbor splashes Downy over his cars after washing. He puts a small amount of Downy in a 2-3 gallong bucket of water and splashes it over the car's flat areas. The water tends to sheet and run off rather than staying in spots due to the wax and then drying leaving minerals and dirt behind. Then it's easy to wipe the residual water away.

I can sympathize as I have a dark grey car. I have to wax it every couple months at the most, and use the spray detailer weekly - or the paint will get the swirl marks and "spiderwebs" as I call them on flat surfaces.. But it does a very good job at covering up those swirl marks. I'd recommend that maintenance on a black car too. It keeps the wax looking fresh.

SOFTIN Inc is a 501 c 3 non profit organization. The entree fee, spectator fee's, raffle tickets etc. are all donations, so they are all tax write off's because we are a 501 c 3. Everyone who enters their cars into this show receives a receipt with our tax I.D number and it's a tax write off.

well, I've got the Catalina about as ready as it'll ever be. Just washed it up and waxed it tonite. I'll vacuum it out tomorrow, and then throw that tire shine stuff on it once I get up on the fairgrounds. Here's a few pics I just took of it, before putting it to bed...

I've got extra oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluid in the trunk. Plus, I'm going to take the battery out of the LeMans, plus bring along a charger, just to keep my paranoia at bay!

Looks sharp...the wheels still are such a good period touch, worth the investment.

I hope the weather is decent.

Funny thing...I've always carried all those fluids + coolant in the trunk of the fintail too.

Your Pontiac looks good. I like the wheels; they look right. My idea of a good car at a show is that it's original and makes me think, "I remember seeing and liking cars like that when they were new." This one does that for me. Wide Track.

I just put a new alternator and battery in the Brougham along with adjusting the carb and a new fuel filter. I will also be bringing my cell phone along with all the other afformentioned stuff Andre will be bringing. If it rains, I will be bringing my black 2007 Cadillac DTS as an alternate. If things really get desperate - a blue 2005 Buick LaCrosse just so I can say I was there! Maybe I'll enter it in the burnout contest! "Wha..wha..what happened to my tires?" "Uh, nothing, honey, nothing."

I almost feel kinda bad for leaving the LeMans at home this time, since I took it to the last four GM shows (2005-2008). Almost feels like I'm cheating on it! It's also behaving better. Hasn't refused to start in awhile now. But I could just see it getting me up there just fine, only to refuse to start on Saturday morning. It'd be kind of cool to get both cars up for that show, but there's nobody down here that I'd really trust to drive one of my old cars. They're no big deal to me, since I drive them all the time, but the driving experience of something like a '67 Catalina or even a '76 LeMans is probably far enough removed from that of the typical modern car, that most drivers today would probably be a bit bewildered.

I actually thought about putting my '79 5th Ave in the burnout contest at the Mopar show, since its rear tires are crap anyway...just make sure I have spare tires and wheels in the trunk! But with my luck, I'd end up dropping the transmission or something. And while I only paid $900 for that car, I'd rather not do something stupid to it that turns it into junkyard fodder!

Didn't some dude end up blowing the engine in his V-8 Monza one year?

If you did kill your 5th Ave, you'd have an excuse to go after that primo example with only 4K miles on it somebody posted a few days back!
