On what basis is the admission cost a tax write off?
SOFTIN is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization. Admission, the car entries, vender spaces, silent auction and things bought from SOFTIN are tax write off's. It's all charitable donations which are all tax write off's.

I, (hopefully) will be at the Carlisle All-GM Show with my 1989 Cadillac Brougham...IF IT EVER STOPS RAINING!!! I'm afraid I'll have to bring it as it is as I can't get a chance to detail it.

For a quick detail after a rain, I use Meguiars Ultimate Detailer - it works very well with clearcoat paints, puts kind of a glaze on the car - and it only takes a few minutes. You could do it at the show once you arrive.

Yeah, but 120 miles of wet road sure messes up the undercarriage and tires. This car has not seen rain or snow in years.

Maybe you should just drive the DTS if it will be nasty the day of the show. I don't take the fintail out in messy weather anymore either - it's too much of a pain to clean.

I just checked the weather for Carlisle, and they're calling for isolated T-storms on Friday and Sunday, and mostly sunny on Saturday. Highs in the upper 80's. Of course, this far out, it could change and for all we know an F-5 tornado could roll through by then.
I hope the weather holds out though, because I'm pretty much committed to bringing the Catalina at this point. I don't trust the LeMans that far. If it starts in the morning, it's good for the day. However, I have this vision of it getting me up there just fine on Friday, and behaving all day, only to refuse to start on Saturday morning.
I guess if the weather's too bad and I don't want to bring the Catalina out in it, I can always drive up in the Silverado.

Yeesh! I don't like driving the DTS in the rain either! Black looks AWESOME when the car is clean, but it is a royal PITA to keep that way. It's hard to wash as water spots form the second the sun hits them. It's hard to dry. You gotta be so careful as black scratches if you look at it the wrong way. It seems you have to wax a black car after every wash, because every spot you miss shows like a flashing neon sign. It takes me a very long time to clean the DTS, so much I think I'd rather pay to send it to a professional detailer than do it myself.
Maybe I can take my girlfriend's LaCrosse in lieu of the others, but she's afraid to drive any of my cars.

Have you tried using Downy in your rinse water? Neighbor splashes Downy over his cars after washing. He puts a small amount of Downy in a 2-3 gallong bucket of water and splashes it over the car's flat areas. The water tends to sheet and run off rather than staying in spots due to the wax and then drying leaving minerals and dirt behind. Then it's easy to wipe the residual water away.

I can sympathize as I have a dark grey car. I have to wax it every couple months at the most, and use the spray detailer weekly - or the paint will get the swirl marks and "spiderwebs" as I call them on flat surfaces.. But it does a very good job at covering up those swirl marks. I'd recommend that maintenance on a black car too. It keeps the wax looking fresh.

SOFTIN Inc is a 501 c 3 non profit organization. The entree fee, spectator fee's, raffle tickets etc. are all donations, so they are all tax write off's because we are a 501 c 3. Everyone who enters their cars into this show receives a receipt with our tax I.D number and it's a tax write off.
