I mean playing a song from one CD, then a song from a differnet CD, then from a 3rd another etc etc- all randomly. My home 6 CD changer has that ability.

Since nobody else has replied, I'll give you my experience with an 05 Freestyle and 07 MKZ - both shuffle within a CD, but not among CDs. I suspect most if not all auto CD players work the same way.

The poster above is correct: you can not play randomly between CDs.

Auto-locking can be configured (free of charge) at any mazda dealer. It's a one time service so once you do it, they will charge you to turn it back off should you decide that it's annoying (as I find it is in our expedition).

Checked with two Mazda dealers in my area.
The new ETA for DVD Remote is 9/18/2007. This sucks.
Maybe I can give MPV DVD remote a shot and see if that will work.

Every part for the CX-9 seems to be on some sort of back order. Sorry to hear that.
Hey, the DVD remote from the MPV just may work!

... because when I get out of the car and go to open the hatch or another door, the dang thing is locked and I have to go back to the driver's door and unlock it.
I'm a grown-up now and can lock my own doors when I feel it's warranted.
Some day we'll be able to easily connect to our cars with a laptop and configure all this. When you get a new car, you'll just load your saved settings into it.
