I would like to lease a Avalon Touring (32,025 sticker price dealer will give it for 28.900). This is offer from a dealer.Based on the lease of 36 mos, 12k miles, with $0 down (plus 1st pmt, doce fee and plates) your payment on this Avalon at invoice is $516.00. OK, the residual value on this lease after 3 years will be $17434.50, this is also the price you can buy it for. At the time of purchase, the lease company will require an accuistion fee of $400.00.The money factor is 0.00275. Please, what do you think about this offer.

I've been really looking at numbers myself and am attracted to the Avalon for it's cost point over cars like the A6 and M35x. But that said, this lease deal sounds horrible. For that same money, you could drive the M35x which is offering a .00060 rate for 24mo. Audi is at .00066 for 36mo. A .00275 rate is 6.6% before you even factor in the $400 acquistion fee. Some banks are offering 3.99% financing for 36mo.

Looks like a good car to buy but not lease. Please tell me what I'm missing. I'm also going through these numbers today.

Fadil: Based on the guidelines provided in other forums on Edmunds.com, using the numbers you supplied in your message, your payment should be $474. per month, plus all local taxes.

The reply above correctly notes the $400. charge and the 6.6% effective interest rate as questionable. The residual value, some 54% of MSRP, is probably OK.

Check your area for lower interest rates on the lease and try to drop the $400. fee. How much do you want the car? Are there others or is this it? Good luck....

Hi fadil. The money factor that you were quoted for this car looks reasonable to me. I would be happy to give you my opinion on the lease payment that you were quoted, however in order for me to do so it would be a big help if I had this car's full MSRP and selling price. These numbers will show me how much of a discount you are being given and will enable mt to estimate what your monthly payment should be. Let me know and I'll tell you what I think.

You're absolutely right, pbd3. The Toyota Avalon is a very nice car, but it is not a good vehicle to lease. Toyota is not currently, and has not provided any sort of lease support on the Avalon in a long time. As a result, if you want to lease one through Toyota Financial Services, you have to use its standard lease program, which isn't great. If I was in the market for an Avalon, I personally would probably finance it through an independent bank or pay cash for it.

Greetings Bob. This car's lease program varies depending upon how long you lease it for and how many miles per year you are allowed to drive it. For now, I will provide you with info on a typical lease, 36 months with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. If you were to lease a 2006 Toyota Avalon (not the Limited model) through Toyota Financial Services right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00265 and 56% for consumers who qualify for its Tier 1+ credit tier.

Actually, I have a question. I would like to buy Avalon XL (to lease probably). Several dealers offered it to me for around 500 dollars over invoice. I am pretty happy with that price but my concern is timing of my purchase. Is it better to wait for 07 model, because Toyota is not offering any incentives on 06 model. Probably, I can get that price on 07 model, too. Is there something wrong with my thinking?

Yes, I have the exact some thinking and situation. I can get the XL for $500 over invoice, so I'm waiting for the 07 to become available, which will also be $500 over invoice, but one year newer on the used-car price charts. Also, I'm hoping that some of the problems decrease and/or the workmanship improves with the 07, or extras are added. However, I've heard that almost nothing has changed except for the tire-pressure monitor, which is a big disappointment. Also, I'm hoping that there isn't much of a price increase because a large price increase would negate the new year advantage. From 05 to 06 models, there was hardly any increase, and if only a tire-pressure monitor is added, then there should be only a minor price increase. metamel

Thank you for advice, metamel. I would wait for 07 model.
