I'm new to leasing, so forgive me, but why say no to the gap insurance? I've read around that when leasing, you absolutely do need it.

My wife and I ran our credit report to get our credit scores - 675 and 710 respectively. We got to the Toyota dealer and when they ran out report they came up with 608 and 595 respectively. The scores were both from Experian and TransUnion. What gives?

Did the dealer actually show you the scores, or just tell you?

They printed out a form on the dealships' letterhead. We did not see anything that said it was from the three reporting agencies.

The residual is based off of the MSRP. $27,450 * 52% = $14,274 not $13,967.20.
What is the actual selling price, bank fee and do they require a security deposit? I can run the lease for you.

Hi thomaskl1. I believe that Toyota had been providing lease support on the Prius for a number of months, not just March. The only reason that it ceased providing a special money factor on the Prius in April is that is replaced all of its existing support on it with special option package discounts of up to $2,000.

You're very welcome, anchovy. It definitely is very time consuming . What you were told is correct. When Toyota introduced the special option package discounts on the Prius in April it stopped providing special lease money factors on it. As a result, if you were to lease one through Toyota Financial Services right now, you would have to use its standard lease program. Its standard money factor varies somewhat by region, but the factor that you mentioned looks about right to me. The best that you can do is shop around for the lowest possible selling price on the Prius that you want and have the dealer that gives it to you use the money factor that you mentioned to calculate your monthly payment.

Hi Jerry . I see that you are considering trading in your Camry on a lease of a new Prius. There's nothing wrong with trading in a vehicle when leasing, however it would be in your best interest to have the dealer that you are working with cut you a check for your trade rather than using the proceeds from it as a down payment for your lease. I always advise consumers against making large down payments on leases. Those who do risk losing part or all of their down payment if their vehicle is totaled in an accident or stolen and never recovered.
The lease money factor that you were quoted for the Prius that you are interested in looks about right to me. In your post you mentioned that this car's cap cost is $23,236.38. Is this before or after the down payment is applied? If it is before, this is a great deal. If this is after, not so much.

Car_man,
First of all, you're a saint.
I'm looking at a 2007 package 2 with a net cap cost=21995 and a money factor=.0025.
I was wondering if you knew the current residuals for area codes 93030 and 93101(Oxnard and Santa Barbara CA) and if 21995 is a good price for that model.
Thanks!!!

I am just wondering if I can negotiate the security deposit and acquisition fee out. Is everyone paying those or not? Thanks.
