Hi coolacoo. I'm glad that you find these forums so helpful. Here's the information that you're looking for. Toyota Financial Services' current Southern California buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Prius with 12,000 miles per year are .00102 and 61%, respectively.

Keep in mind though that TFS publishes residual value percentages for vehicles base MSRPs. It places restrictions upon what options can be residualized, making its effective residuals lower than its published percentages.

Stuck in CA cannot move with Prius Lease by gagrice

A pastor friend is moving to Maui to assume a pastorate. He has a 5 year lease with Toyota. He was informed he cannot take his car to Hawaii on the lease. He cannot afford to finance as he would have to come up with $8k cash. If he stores it the battery will be destroyed after 2 years not running. Any suggestions other than leaving in a bad part of town with the fob on the seat. I already suggested that.

Hi gagrice. That's a tough situation. Has your friend tried to find someone to assume his lease? Banks often allow lessees to transfer their leases to another interested party.

The trick will be finding someone who is willing to assume a five year lease on a Prius. I always advise consumers against leasing for that long. Your friend may find that he has to kick in some extra money out of his own pocket to make his deal attractive enough for someone to be willing to assume it. Sites like swapalease or even Craig's List work well for this sort of transaction.

$300 for 36 months?

I was told it would be in the high 300s

Did that include taxes? Did you finalize the deal and, if so, recently?

Can you share the cap cost, residual value, money factor, etc.

Seems to me your price is very cheap. You are a better negotiator than me!

Hi car_man, I am looking for this information as well. I am in Boston, MA.

Also, do you know how TFS adds on additional miles as a pre-pay? Is there a discounted rate if you pre-pay? Or is it the same as paying for overages in the end? Thank you.
